Guys, I'm so out of touch with all things iPhone related, so please excuse me if anything I say or ask here is silly 😊

My daughter want headphone for her soon-to-be iPhone. Now I'm being a tight dad and saying no way I can justify official Airpods. She the found the following, so I want to ask you guys who know about all.this stuff, are they worth it?

If all you want is a pair of headphones or earbuds that will connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth, there are countless options. None of them will be as fully featured as AirPods because that’s how Apple creates lock in. Could you afford the 2nd gen AirPods? Those are I believe the cheapest AirPods you can still buy new.

Hi Supermallet, thanks fir the telly.

I can afford any of airpods but question is can I justify them for 14 year old 😆

I'd much rather spend a lot less for now until she can prove she isn't going to lose them in the first few days.

I was looking at spending around £40 for then.

Whatever you do, do NOT get her airpod look-alikes. I work at a middle school and these kids are BRUTAL to those that have 'fake' airpods.

Yours is older than the kids I work with, but some aspects of them do not change until much later in life.

Maybe something like the Nothing Ear Stick? Decent sound quality, visually interesting, and work just fine with iOS (with a nice companion app to boot!). A little over your ideal budget, but worth the spend in my book.

Sony XM are nice, as they offer a bit better sound due to their EQ, but all things considered the Airpods Pro are the best in-ear-headphones all around. Ease of use, H2 chip, Findmy, auto-switching devices, ANC and a sound that is ideally attuned to Apple Music, but also works really great on Podcasts and Audiobooks – it’s just a mix that no other product offers. I would love to have them go a bit more louder for older music and anything Steve Wilson mixes, black color and I would seriously love a configurable user-EQ on which the Auto-EQ might base its decisions, but apart from these three things, they are perfect.

Thanks mate for the tip ❤

Thankfully she's one of the quiet ones that no one really pays attention to and only has a handful of close friends, none of which like her are materialistic. So no chance of getting teased 😂

But I fully understand and appreciate what you're saying. Kids in my little ones class who since the age of 8 talk about mobiles and how shameful it is to have older models. Shocking!

I'll check out the nothing ear sticks.

The soundcore options are pretty good for the price. Very good bang for the buck and usually on some type of Amazon sale. The Liberty series has great sound quality.
