I currently have standard AirPods and get on with then great. Sound quality is good enough for what I want.

I love the fit as don’t get on with earphones that you have to shove inside to create a seal. Had a few over the years and never like the fit, and then the sound isolation for when out walking etc.

I know AirPod Pro have transparency feature, does this work well and allow outside sound in, as I say I prefer to be able to hear my surroundings.

I’m just worried on the fit, as I say AirPods have been great where they just rest in your ears rather than have to be “jammed” in as they seem to hurt my ears.

Why am I thinking of AirPod Pro, the noise cancelling feature mainly. On noisy trains, aeroplanes etc I imagine it would be great, where I’m not too bothered about outside surroundings. Used my AirPods on a plane and even full volume struggled to get good sound that was loud enough.

So how are they on the above questions please?

Thanks

Yes, you do "jam" them into your ears, compared to the regular Airpods.

Yes, Transparency allows you to hear your surroundings clearly, with just a slightly "processed" ("sharp") sound quality.

Yes, Airpods Pro are great for filtering out hum.

No, Airpods being a good fit does not guarantee the Pros are.

Thanks. Not sure then....

So the different size ear tips are just to still have to jam in? I’m not sure my ears like this type, they seem to ache, do others?

How is the transparency mode? I’d imagine I’d use it all the time apart from

How is the sound compared to AirPods and AirPods Pro? Much better sound in Pro? Is this also down to the fit?

What do others think who have (or had) both AirPods and Pro versions? Which do you prefer? Since having AirPods I prefer this fit and haven’t thought about others.

I dont actually jam them in. I put them in gently and twist them upwards and until i feel them seal. Works every time and passes the fit test.

Exactly how I do it.

I have the original AirPods and the Pro and the Pro sound significantly better because of the sealed ear and noise cancellation. I have no reason to use the originals any longer and will give them to a family member.

They don’t go anywhere as deep inside your ears as most other sealing earbuds so I’d give them a shot.

That’s what worried on tbh. Had some like that in past and ears hurt when jammed in, and I didn’t like the fact couldn’t hear anything external when out walking. When in house or plane/train don’t mind, but like to be aware of surrounding when out and about.

Reason looking again as you say they don’t seem to have to be jammed in as far as others and have the transparency feature to, presume this works well?

Thanks

For what it’s worth I swore off IEMs for years as I never found one I could tolerate for extended periods of time. The APPs are better enough in that regard that I tolerate them. If you can benefit from a good return policy I’d try them as your past experiences with IEMs can’t be applied to the APPs.

It really does vary from person to person. I have both the Pro's and the Sony WF-1000XM3 and would give the comfort edge to the Sony's.

Suppose it does, only going off what I had before but suppose every in ear is different, personally when AirPods came out they were perfect, for the fit and comfort and also as could still hear surroundings.

I did use my AirPods on plane last year and watching a film at full volume couldn’t really hear very well. Expect APP would be perfect for this scenario.

It’s something that you can’t really try out as well suppose for hygiene reasons. Do Apple still allow refund if no good/don’t want them? They have 3 sizes of plug I believe in packet.

I much prefer my AirPods 2 to my AirPods Pro. Because I can wear them all day without pain. My AirPods Pro I have to jam inside of my ear and they start hurting after a few hours.

However, there are uses for both. My AirPods 2 are GREAT for calls, music, exercising heavily, and just needing a quick headphones.

AirPods Pro are great for when I need to silence the environment around me and for activities such as airplane travel.

I use my AirPods 2 about 3-4x more than I do my Pros. I like my AirPods 2 better too but there are some situations that I need to use my Pros in (loud environment, de-stressing with rain audio, airplane travel, etc).

This is probably the same scenario I will have. Walking about I still probably will use my AirPods, and maybe only the APP if travelling
