Airpods 2 really bad static sound only during calls?

Not sure if this is rattlegate issue but my Airpods 2 during calls make a very static-type sound and audio is suddenly choppy.

It does not happen when I am listening to music or watching youtube etc.

I bought with Applecare last month and this just started to happen.

Will Apple replace them at the store?

From reading other people experiences I haven't seen any push back on getting them replaced. Though I've yet to see someone say a replacement resolved their issue. I'd say software/firmware bugs are the root of most things we're dealing with since release.

Hopefully gets better overtime.
