I have been having an odd issue with my AirPods 3 for a while.

The right side starts to sound very muffled and then I can barely hear any sound from it.

I have tried other headphones and they sound fine.

When they were covered by apple care I actually had it swapped out twice. After that they sounded fine.

It’s always the right one never the left.

There is no obvious thing that looks wrong with it.

Any ideas?

I have AirPods v2 and AirPods 3

End of August (probably same time as above) I noticed my left AirPod 3 had become quieter. I figured it was my ear but his has continued for several weeks now. It appears that it has lost clarity like the balance and level is off for that one AirPod?

Now I bought the AirPod 3’s because in hindsight the same thing happened with my AirPod v2.

Randomly I used the v2’s last night and now the left AirPod which had lost sound and bottom end is now really loud and the right and one is having the issue of being quiet and off balance.

I just checked my AirPod 3 using special audio and when I move my head to the right it seems to bring some sense of balance and fidelity back, but once switched off the level and balance in the left AirPod goes all messed up again.

Anyone else had anything similar. After some reading appears might be a firmware issue! Is it worth taking them into Apple Store? They are both out of warranty, but the issue would appear to be the software not the actual device?

Quite infuriating. The quality control of their software is getting worse as the years go by
