My biggest gripe with AirPods 4, the charging case is small and physically lighter. It feels cheap.

I own basic model, no noise cancellation.

While listening to music using AirPods 4, I open an app. It could be Reddit or Imgur. There is short video, sound automatically switches to that video and afterwards, the audio switches back to audio app I was listening music.

A good example an app radio garden. I’m listen to music. When I watch a video clip in Reddit or in Imgur app, audio seamless transitions. Once the video ends, audio goes back to Radio Garden app.

With AirPods 3, the transition was never seamless. At times I had to close an app or another app. Stop playing sound or music. It was cumbersome.

iPhone 14, latest iOS 18.6.2

But now, sound, music, audio, transitions …. Seamlessly!

I’m listening to Apple Music, I open an app, it has videos of cute animals. The audio seamlessly transition to audio of elephants, once video ends, sound goes back Apple Music.

Does that make’s sense?

As far as I remember, I have never had this kind of experience with AirPods 3.

Is this new future with AirPods 4?

I’ve owned AirPods 3 for over 2 years. I purchased AirPods 4, three days ago.

This looks more like a software thing then a bud thing. This happens on every bud that I have, including the my car's bluetooth/carplay

I agree

The transitions and other features I knew nothing about when using generic bluetooth headphones have made me very impressed with the AirPods 4

Today, I spent 4 hours listening to music at 50% volume and batteries in the airPods went down to 10%.

It’s the first time I discharged the batteries in the AirPods.

Sound quality was terrible during zoom, team meeting. Wired apple EarPods, directly connected to my MacBook Air 2014, had far better audio quality. I’m looking in to a solution.

My former AirPods 3, interfered with zoom or team meetings. My guess is that my MacBook Air is a 2014 model and WiFi card with blue tooth all in one, didn’t like. I know terrible choice of words.

The WiFi card in the MacBook Air 2014 can’t handle many tasks at the same time in today’s environment. One example, I can only download 1 torrent at the time, even if a torrent has 1,000 seeds.

I digress.

I did get a $100 discount for AirPods 4. At the end of the day, they are working great.

I do enjoy seamless audio transition from one app to another app. I’m still using latest iOS 18.6.2 on my iPhone 14.

Negative part.

I can’t fold my ears over the AirPods 4. When I use my hands, to fold ears, music stops playing. With AirPods 3, it wasn’t an issue.

You might be thinking why I fold my ears with my hands? Because it increases volume and bass at the same time.

Just to be clear, i don’t walk around with hands over my ears. But at times, as a test I fold my ears. In the process, I get significant boosts in bass. It’s fun thing to do as an experiment.

Volume is low when connected to apple 4k tv device. I never used my AirPods 3 to watch movies or tv shows in the past.

Having that said. I prefer using my tv speakers. It’s a 15 year old Sony Bravia tv. It has 5 speakers and far better sound quality than any today’s $2k 4k tv.

Yes, a good quality sound bar and a subwoofer, will provide a better audio experience.

I enjoy simple things.))

Cheers. ))
