Hi all!

Just wanted to share an experience I just had with my AirPods (second generation). I use them frequently in my hot tub, and last night was no exception. I took them out of my ears when my husband came out to join me last night, and left them sitting on the table around the hot tub (not in their charging case, just on the table). Totally forgot to take them in with me (table is white, so that does not help make them stand out) and hadn't had the need to use them today, as I was too distracted by the fact that I just got my AirPods Max today. Anyway, when I went outside to clean around the patio I saw them on the table. Also, about four hours ago, we had torrential downpour here in South Florida.

I immediately thought to myself "Well, that was unfortunate that I just spent $549 on my AirPods Max and now I'm going to have to replace my AirPods." To my pure shock, I made sure they were dry, put them in their charging case, and they work just fine. The sound has not been affected, and microphones still work as expected!

Big relief!! Just don't try it yourself!

Once I had one of my EarPods (yeah, the wired ones) fell into the coffe cup I had in my hand while walking. Same experience. Took it out, dried it with a cloth and... it worked.

However, I wish Apple made them officially waterproof. I would like to run with them while raining without worrying.

Agreed, but biking for me. They are CLEARLY more waterproof than Apple is willing to say. Not sure if you have ever been to Florida during a storm, but it can really rain heavily. There is no way they weren't in standing water for a little while after that! So glad they survived, and yours, too!

I’ve seen people on YouTube run them through a washer and dryer and they survived, so they are pretty sturdy. Not that I would do that on purpose. But I’ve had no problems going for a run with them in the rain.

I used the AirPods Pro in the rain many times during running, still works like new.

My Gen 2's and Pros have had their fair share of moisture, sweat, gasoline, oil, greasy fingers, and drops. Still working perfectly fine.

Never wanted to like true-wireless buds but boy are they liberating! Love that my devices all have headphone jacks though when the battery finally goes out and I drop back to my wired sets, or forget to charge the case one day and would otherwise have no music or podcasts to listen to.

I keep a spare wired EarPods set at work just in that for-instance. Happened once already, last year, my Gen 2's didn't want to do anything but emit some weird 'ball dropping on ground' sound effect (case had amber light) so I had to fall back to my EarPods at least once. Makes me glad to have an older iPhone with headphone jack.

I've dropped mine in the bath a few times, surprises me every time that they work perfectly after drying them out!

One of my favorite flip phones from 2003 (Samsung SGH-x427 from Cingular) was so tiny and lightweight I neglected to check my pants pockets before it went through both a wash and dry cycle. While the screen was 'foggy' (the plastic between the LCD and outer part) the phone still worked. Just had to charge the battery was all.

Tech resiliance is quite impressive
