I recently had my Airpods Pro connected to my friend's iPhone. Now it seems, that he can track see / the location of my Airpods under his "find me" app. So if I have the airpods with me, he can basically track me all the time, and see where I'm going.

How can I prevent this to happen? Is a fully reset (press connector button 15sec) the best solution to remove them from all other devices, or what else could I do?

I see a great potential for abuse there. I simply take someone else's Airpods, connect them shortly to my phone, and then give them back to the person. I now can always see where that person is.

This isn't related to what I mean, let me explain further what I'm concerned about.
- The Airpods are registered to my Apple ID.
- When I don't have a look at them, my friend takes them and connect them to his iPhone
- I go home and take the Airpods with me
- Now my friend still see my Airpods on his "Find Me" and can locate easily where they are and could possibly stalking me

Per the article you would have had to remove them from your ID before you could have connected them to your friend’s phone.

No, they can just connect to any other iPhone. There is a message that they are registered to another Apple ID, but still can be connected to the other Phone and this "other Phone" now can track them also in his Find Me App. I think that's an awful behavior if someone want to stalk their partner etc.

Can you see these AirPods Pro in your FindMy app? The answer should be no, because they were set up for the other person’s ID.

I still can see my Airpods in my FindMy app. But the other person, too, even he just connected them and not registered them with his AppleID. That's the weired thing. What you describe, is what I thought should be the standard behavoir. Only the person who registered them to his Apple ID can see them on the FindMy App, but that's not the case.

Are you sure he can actually see your location? I have given an old set of AirPods to one of my son's. I've just checked FindMy App and I can see them under his name under devices ... but it says 'No location found'.

This paragraph from the AirPods user guide (link to chapter below) might help.

Note: If people use your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro (all generations), or AirPods Max with multiple Apple IDs, only the person who turned on the Find My network can see them in the Find My app. You may also get an alert if someone else’s AirPods are traveling with you. See the Apple Support article What to do if you get an alert that an AirTag, Find My network accessory, or set of AirPods is with you.
