As per the title indicates this is about the Automatic Switching feature coming to the Airpods with iOS14 and MacOS Big Sur.
Has anyone managed to try this feature? I can't seem to get it to work.
Ah, makes sense now. These features require an AirPods firmware update, which wont ship until iOS 14 goes live.
I'm just confused how it will work. How do you think it will know what we want to hear sound out of? Maybe it's just for calls?
Yeah, I guess that's what I was confused about... or what if I had music playing on my phone, but was working on my computer and a YouTube video was playing for example? Or, maybe a Zoom meeting on the computer... There can be endless possibilities of how one would think it might work...if you have your AirPods on and press play on any device it will play music through the AirPods. Not sure what happens if you press play on two devices at the same time though
They have stated that they are aware of the issue and have a fix coming. My AirPods went downhill in B4, won’t automatically connect back to the device they were last paired to. Waiting to see what Apple say.

I guess it is not active because it only works well if all your devices are capable of doing it, and right now in beta phase it probably would cause more confusion.I wonder how they expect to get input on how it works if they don’t make it available to beta testers.
Really hoping this is not one of those features that’s missing by the release and then never make it.
