I just got my AirPods 2 and been testing them out. I was able to change the double tap gesture on my iPhone (right pod, track forward and left pod, track backward). I noticed this setting was maintained even when switching to my iPad. However, when I play through my Apple Watch it does a simple play/pause. I can’t seem to find any settings to change AirPod double tap on Apple Watch.

Am I missing something?

Restart the watch?
Just tried that. Did nothing.

Just to be clear, did you actually read my question/issue? Double tap DOES work when using apple watch, but I can't seem to change it from start/stop. On iPhone/iPad I have it set to skip forward/backward, but these settings didn't seem to propogate to Apple Watch and I don't see a way on the watch to change them.

Is there a way to change the double tap Airpod gesture on Apple Watch? If so, how? Should it automatically propogate once changed on iPhone (which is what happened with iPad)?

The setting should hold across all of your devices once you change it on the phone. At least this is how the first gen has been working for me for about 2 years now.

Have you updated your watch to 5.2 that was released yesterday?

Hmm.... interesting. That's good to hear that it's *supposed* to work, but now I need to figure out why it doesn't work. I thought I had maybe figured it out. I tried forgetting the AirPods and setting them up again (my Apple Watch was still updating to 5.2 yesterday when I initially set up the AirPods). But I'm sad to report I'm having the same issue... With WatchOS 5.2 and AirPods 2

Edit: I've also tried restarting my Apple Watch after forgeting and resyncing the AirPods. No dice.

AirPods should maintain the settings across your devices. If only Apple Watch behaves differently and restarting didn't work I'm afraid you would be needed to do a re-pairing.
