Do we know any details about how they measure the relative orientation of the head and AirPods? Seems tricky to line up

Glad to see device switching arrive! I remember hearing this rumored wayyy back when the first AirPods came out. So happy they found the secret sauce to make it work!

And what a welcome addition to the Pros! Great support and new features I never expected.

My main concern here is it switching automatically when I DON'T want it to. Like I'm listening to a podcast on one device and scrolling through Safari or FaceBook on another and they think I want to listen to a dumb ad or autoplay video or something.

I’m hoping they have a good algorithm setup to figure this out. Maybe strength of Bluetooth signal — for example, if I’m listening to Spotify on the balcony and my wife uses my computer in the other room to play a video, hopefully it’ll know based on the weak BT signal that I’m not the one playing the video. We’ll see! Should be exciting!

I wonder if the spatial audio can work with Apple TV without a hardware update. Possibly a new Apple TV on the way with a U1 chip in to allow the Airpods to know where the screen is?

I hope that spatial audio will be featured in Logic Pro and that it will let me mix 5.1 on the go with AirPods Pro. would be neat!

This is what I want to know as well, will spatial audio work with Apple TV. I like using my AirPod Pros with my Apple TV at night, once the rest of the family is in bed. Simulated surround would be a great feature while watching movies! My Xbox 1 supports Dolby Atmos for Headphones and I think it sounds pretty good. Would love a similar feature for Apple TV.

I am curious to see if this works with the Mac. Not just the iPhone / iPad. This is because I believe Mac handles their Bluetooth connections different than iOS. Always had issues getting AirPods reliably connected from an iPhone/iPad to a Mac.

According to the apple page in iOS this function is in the iphone 7 and up (chip A10). On the other hand, on iPadOS it says that it works on ipad pro 11 "and ipad 6th generation but it says nothing about ipad pro 10.5". I hope it is a mistake, since that ipad pro is superior to the 6th generation ipad.

Do you mean spatial audio, or automatic switching (or both)?

I never bought the AirPod Pros because between the regular AirPods for calls on the go and my Bose QC headphones for noise cancellation, I didn't have a need. However, I'm interested for the automatic switch and the spatial audio features.

Would be nice if they fixed the noise cancelling before adding new features.

ive had three AirPods replaced already because the click when you walk or run with noise cancellation active. One was so bad it was making noise just moving your head or jaw.

I'm assuming autoswitching requires big sur? I have a 2012 macbook air lol but I really want this feature.
