I'm about to buy the current AirPods and wondering if I should wait for later this year because not sure if a major new version is about to come out?

Unfortunately I lost a pair last week. I think a new AirPod is coming before the end of the year, but I really really liked mine.

I decided to try the new Jabra 65T Actives, since the reviews have been very good for these. I hated them. I guess it is mostly because I don't like the "shove them in your ear" headphones all that much. I used to use IEM's all the time but after getting used to both the open AirPods and the Bose QC stayhear tips (that really don't go in your ear canal either), the IEM's just bug me. I can hear my heart beat when they are quiet. I hear ever step and the cable noise. They feel jammed in my ears. I just didn't like them.

So I took them back and bought new AirPods today. I love them.

Buy now there’s no lock it will come this year and from the sounds it won’t do much different to the current version.

I took the plunge 2 months ago. Wasn't going to wait for Gen2 (whenever that is). Surprisingly, the sound quality is good for me. A lot better then the earbud's that come in the box. Also, the pairing and that the case is a charging pod case was another selling factor for me. Still have a pair Jay birds x3. Which are amazing, but was tired of the wire and the control module on the one side kind of tugging at times.
Enjoy your new Airpods. I do.

They're so tempting to get now, but I am holding out for the next release of the AW to buy a set. Really liking the true wireless form factor in regards to running ( I have faith they won't fall out) but I am hoping to see a bit better design in the next AW with battery life and bezel.
I currently have the iPhone X, not exactly the best sized device to run with for music, it's even too awkward for carrying around the gym.

Toms Guide had a roundup of rumors. Seems a likely scenario would be rumored upgrades being phased in over 1-3 years. Yet if you look at all the rumors, none of them seem like killer additions. (And you know half will end up being years away or wrong ). So while you might see some modest upgrades soon, you would still most likely be happy with the existing model.,review-5495.html

I waited until June (using the hubbys)hoping for an announcement... nothing. So I bought a pair at Costco online. $139.99 + $5 for standard 3 day shipping. Love them for music, but also the call quality is amazing.
