AirPods + iPods poor quality audio?

Hey guys,

Anyone with the new AirPods, could you try pairing them with an iPod.

I paired mine with a nano 7th gen and it sounded terrible , paired with the iPhone they were fine.

Just wondering if it's my iPod, intention was to use it at the gym.

I also paired it with a Sony zx2 and the volume was stuck on max.

I have similar issue, the volume is ridiculously low of some reason... On 100% volume on the iPod, the airpods produce very low sound...
