I'll have to try this with my i7 TWS ear buds.

The sound you're hearing while eavesdropping on me when you leave the room? That's me "accidentally" knocking your unattended iPhone onto the concrete floor. :D
Remember to turn voice over on and activate screen curtain with three finger triple tap and then speech off with three finger double tap.

Hmmmm I wonder how well this would have worked in the noisy restaurant we were in last night where our party of 6 couldn't hear each other with all the background noise?

Not well. I tried this exact scenario since I have trouble hearing in noisy environments. It picked up all of the noise and transmitted it with a slight delay to the noise I was getting directly to my ear. I quickly gave up.

Hey you guys are on to something. Instead of group FaceTime we could have group HearingTime for everyone sitting at a table.
Just need a way to eliminate the echo if you use audio only FaceTime. Needs to be more local and faster with all AirPods linked.

Thanks for letting me know. BUMMER.

Before the AirPods and live listen it has always been possible to leave the iPhone in another room and call/FaceTime the iPhone from another iPhone.
But don't you have to be logged into another AppleID to call your phone?
[doublepost=1547734637][/doublepost]I only get an "Unavailable for current route". And yes, I have restarted my phone and my BeatsX earphones. And yes they are connected via Bluetooth, playing standard audio through them works just fine.

If you wanted to record a conversation there are many ways to do it more discreetly that don’t require you leaving a $700+ device with all your personal data away from you.
Yeah, this is more about opportunistic, casual snooping, not people who are planning this out and buying special equipment. Your roommate leaves his AirPods on the coffee table and then gets curious, tunes in to the audio stream from his room. That kind of thing -- it's not hard to imagine.

Leave your $1000+ iPhone alone on a table so you can eavesdrop on someones conversation deserves to jacked.
Who do you think people are interested in eavesdropping on, strangers in a Starbucks? No. You do a thing like this it's going to be your friend, your roommate, your family -- people you actually give a crap about what they're saying.
