Agreed. My pair of Airpod Max's (had them since April 2021) just 2 weeks ago stopped responding to pairing attempts and would enter the mode no matter how long you held down the buttons. Hard reboot does nothing. Cleaning did nothing. I swore I had applecare+ on them like I do for everything Apple I own, and was told it had expired after 2 years (which is weird because I thought regular applecare was for 3 years)
And there's no fix for my issue, at all. Cleaning the headband contact points does nothing, nor the ports themselves. And apparently the headsets are prone to bad moisture issues due to Apple's design, but they've been denying people for liquid damage. They want $300 to repair a set of headphones that shouldn't even be having these issues in the first place.
The whole thing is a disaster, and has me seriously rethinking Apple's audio accessory offerings. I remember when people were pissed that Apple discontinued the iPod Hi-Fi— now you couldn't pay me to consider Apple's audio offerings "premium" in any respect.
They're an expensive gimmick with too many flaws to be recommended. Headphones this expensive are supposed to last; to be viable in years to come as long as they're well taken care of. These are the product of a fad at best, and it shows.
