They should include EQ.
Without EQ they don’t sound that good.
There is an argument to be made for the factory sound. It’s easy on the ears for long term listening. But I also certainly would appreciate some flexibility. I use my APM for TV and home theater. Not for serious/critical listening sessions.

I love mine, honestly.

I don’t find them ugly in the least - quite the opposite, in my eyes.

While I wouldn’t mind them being a bit lighter and less expensive, I don’t regret my purchase at all.

If the next version offer a slightly lighter form factor, usbc, and better battery, I’ll be getting a pair for sure (and my wife will inherit my current pair).
That would likely do it for me. Sometimes even a small change in design can have a big impact in terms of experience. The changes to the edges of the iPhone 15 aren't radical, and yet it feels so great in my hand.

A little less bulky looking and a little lighter and I might even sell my new Bose Ultras. But the Ultras are nice and Sony isn't standing still so Apple will need to justify the premium positioning with premium tech as well.

Maybe I've just had some bad luck, but I'd be happy if they made it so they don't start having pairing issues and breaking after a few months of use...

Ended up selling my 3rd replacement pair and just got Bose instead 🤷🏻
Agreed. My pair of Airpod Max's (had them since April 2021) just 2 weeks ago stopped responding to pairing attempts and would enter the mode no matter how long you held down the buttons. Hard reboot does nothing. Cleaning did nothing. I swore I had applecare+ on them like I do for everything Apple I own, and was told it had expired after 2 years (which is weird because I thought regular applecare was for 3 years)

And there's no fix for my issue, at all. Cleaning the headband contact points does nothing, nor the ports themselves. And apparently the headsets are prone to bad moisture issues due to Apple's design, but they've been denying people for liquid damage. They want $300 to repair a set of headphones that shouldn't even be having these issues in the first place.

The whole thing is a disaster, and has me seriously rethinking Apple's audio accessory offerings. I remember when people were pissed that Apple discontinued the iPod Hi-Fi— now you couldn't pay me to consider Apple's audio offerings "premium" in any respect.

They're an expensive gimmick with too many flaws to be recommended. Headphones this expensive are supposed to last; to be viable in years to come as long as they're well taken care of. These are the product of a fad at best, and it shows.

I wonder if the design will be modified so the Max 2 can be used alongside the Vision Pro? Not sure if they are compatible

Am I the only one who finds the connectivity variance baffling? The fact that these will lose connection with my MBP and will just not reconnect...with it, nor my iPhone, nor my iPad. And then the next day...just fine...until it loses connection again.

Or the various crackling, like the bluetooth starts to degrade...from four feet away.

They are amazing when they work, but baffling when they don't.

Sounds like you got a lemon there... I have zero problems connecting and staying connected for hours... and as for distance, hands down I can wander further away than any other headphones I have had. Through walls even.

I don’t know any person who owns a pair who shares any of the criticisms that the people who don’t own a pair post online. Other than perhaps the case, which I believe to be a fair and reasonable criticism…

Actually, I am one of those rare people that appreciate the case for what it is. Protection for the cans. But I prioritize space when packing. The overhead piece is solid and doesn't need protection. When the max first came out I bought a couple of third party cases because thats what I was used to with Bose. Then I noticed how much less space the headphones took when I just used the apple case and slid it into my computer bag. lies flat, not bulky like those that fold. Left room for other things. Those third party cases were good, but now collect dust. I like the apple case. And I have flown all over the world with it, no problems. Oh, and when you take off the apple case, it also goes back into the computer bag easier. win win.

besides that? I don't miss having to plug a wire in. I like that I don't need to turn them on and off. They don't feel heavy to me. And most of all? I would routinely break a Sony plastic wonder ever year. These, not a problem in the three years I have owned them.

anyway, I know I sound like a fan boy, but they work fine for me. especially the case. but all those that laughed and scoffed won out, like at the fat bloated design for the Apple Vision Pro. just what people asked for.

The same problem jyhash experienced has killed my APMs in the last week or so. I tried all the suggestions online, and nothing works. It just won't pair. Apple store wants $300 for a "repair" which is of course giving me a refurb. I really like the transparency feature, but I don't want to buy another expensive product with a short term life. I need the transparency feature for my use at home, as I don't commute/fly/work (4 years retired). pretty frustrating. I am not a fan of Bose (from when I sold audio products in the 70s while in college) and a prior pair of Sony's fell apart. Maybe I just get a pair of the Beats studio pros during their next sale, and hope for the best.

Hey, I come from the future. Try the new firmware 6A324 for the AirPods Max. It worked wonders for me as I had the exact same issues.

That’s not enough for me, even if I hadn’t just sold my free replacement AirPods Max just recently. The experience has left me sour (even though I convinced Apple to give me a new AirPods Max for free one month out of warranty) on this first iteration (still my favorite headphones ever and I’m glad I got out of it with most of my money back and 2 years of awesome memories) so I’m happy to be rid of them. Especially happy to have sold them after two and a half years, even despite this “fix” because sure, now it’s fixed. But for how long? I’d always be wondering.

I will happily sit waiting now with my usb-c pros, for whenever they make true AirPods Max 2 that aren’t just the same as the 1st gen but with usb-c…

Unless they make it purple. Then SHUTUP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

Then 6 months later they’ll release the true AirPods Max 2 and I’ll again sell my AirPods Max 1.5 on eBay.

They were the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever used, and they doubled as earmuffs. And they sounded fantastic too.

Definitely my favorite headphones for gaming also.

Also sold all my lightning to 3.5mm wires so I’m done. Done with lightning as a whole. Never looking back.

Apple come on. Please release AirPods Max 2 with upgraded sound and everything. We need it.

Maybe you’ll be lucky and they’ll work for you. Unfortunately they quickly killed my ears within an hour. Felt like knives on my ears.

Only AirPods Max were comfortable enough to wear round the clock. Every other over ear headphones I’ve ever worn my entire life have eventually started to feel like knives across my ears.
