I bet they'll just axe the product entirely. The USB-C "refresh" showed how low of a priority it is.
Nah. They seem be selling plenty of them, judging from the very many pairs I see out on my commute each day. There are even knockoffs now. Outside tech forums like this I don't think so many people care about the details people freak out about here.

headphones used to be somewhat of a lifelong purchase back in the pre-digital days ...

Bad business model. Those headphones were too reliable, too durable! So what happens to your sales once everyone already has a set?

Solution: either reduce durability so that they break after a few years. Or, bake in “planned obsolescence” features. Like a Lightning port, for example.

I'll hit the snooze button. Wake me up in three years, perhaps by then we will have new Apple headphones. Until then, the Sony XM6 are great. I don't know what to expect from newer Apple headphones, but I'd assume support for lossless audio (most likely my ears couldn't tell the difference from a good AAC music file), hopefully a proper case, perhaps a stand that could double as charging station (not very likely), better sound from better drivers?

My green lightning maxes have been a fav. I would upgrade to USB c purely for convenience but I dont like any of the colors. Mine actually stopped working the other week. 1 year out of apple care. Battled my way to a senior advisor and they had them fixed for free. Hope they continue to live until v2 comes out with some better colors and features. I will say, even though Apple did end up doing the right thing, it is absurd I had to spend hours on the phone in order to avoid a $300 repair on $500 headphones for something that was either software related or poorly designed hardware.

Why? You from apple? It only happens when wearing them then i stop using my skin heals, using them again the allergy return. I have multiple ear cushion new, old or newly wash same result.
Yeah I also have a problem with those vegan plastics. Same as their plastic watch bands. Same crap as crocs. I get a horrible rash from contact. I wish they would just have a great leather cup at that crazy price.

My Bose qc25 still feel and sound amazing. Only downside is the battery (some might find that a plus, being able to hot swap a dead battery)

I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250, and I live and die by them.

Do these pair well enough w apple ecosystem (watch phone mbp etc.?)..also,any experience w PlayStation 5?

You gotta put them into the case to sleep them. Agree it's a dumb choice tho. The power switch they use on the Magic Keyboard and Mouse would be perfect fit IMO.

Yeah new case and ability to power down would be perfect. Cmon Apple, not everyone wants to be wireless this and standby power that all the time!

SMH

Not sure what Apple will change. it should retain the same price and maybe it will come in some new colour options.

I just want a boost from 2khz-10khz and add 10-15 hrs of battery life. User adjustable 10 band eq would be ideal.

So maybe 2027 will be the year I'll retire my SoundMagic HP151 and go wireless instead of buying a new pads (but current leather ones holds quite nicely, so who knows):D

Sickening how right you are 🤣

Hopefully they fix the severe engineering oversight of condensation build-up which corrodes internal components and leads to eventual failure of the units.

Great headphones though. I love their sound and features. I have a love-hate relationship with them, much like my ex.
Same, love/hate relationship with them. On my 5th set through Irish Consumer Law rights of 6 years warranty. I’ve never worn the headphones outside of the house but do wear them for long durations (which there is no restriction on duration of wearing headphone).

I’ve never tried this fix but the failure point looks to be corrosion on the pin contacts in the stems. There are small holes inside the cups which moisture seeps through. These holes are for the pin or sim ejector to be placed in to allow the cups to release.

Anyway I’d still buy AirPods Max 2 whenever they are released. Hopefully don’t have to wait until 2027.

I do think Apple will update the internals of the AirPods Max with next-generation Bluetooth chip, possibly the same ones used by the next-generation AirPods Pro, which may be coming this fall.

Underwhelmed from day one as an early buyer. Case was a poor design if one tries to travel with them on airlines. The inability to fold the cups and make a smaller package is why mine are in a seldom used storage space.

My Bose headsets over the years have been very travel friendly and have adequate sound. They can connect to any Apple device with Bluetooth.
