I listen to music, a lot (around 6 hours/day), I can't justify the cost of these when my 8 year old Sennheiser HD450-BTNC's still work (perfectly)

the fact that they waited this insanely long for this update is kind of infuriating. how long will it take for them to get a proper redesign and H3 now? another 5 years?
How about a headphone jack for lossless support?

How about just making the thing damn lighter so I don't have to get a headache after an hour?

Knowing Apple, they'd put the power button under something like the speakers.
Uhh, they already support wired input via USB C, don’t they?

Because people who spend $550 on headphones all want tripod selfies while wearing $550 headphones?
Came here to say this, but you stated it 100x better!

i mean - folks are grumbling about this not being added to APM1's but in 3-4 years of ownership, I can't think of a single time I'd have been like, 'oh snap, I wish my digital crown was a remote shutter for my camera'.

This is such an underwhelming upgrade. As much as I love my APM for listening to music, I don't see a reason to upgrade them because I can't use them for travel. They don't fold up like my XM4's, they don't reliably power off which has left me without battery more than once, and the ear cups don't make a seal when I lean back in an airplane seat.

If Apple had fixed these points I'd ditch the Sony's because APM sound so much better to my ears, but if i can't reliably use them for travel I won't buy them again. They are, however, great for home and office use.

but its coming this year. and they coulda put the H2 chip in these a few years ago if they weren't gonna change anything else... but apple loves to be maddening...
Didn’t the H2 literally just come out with the pro 3’s? Why so soon?

IMO this is confirmation it ain’t happening anytime soon

Not necessarily. It was probably more expensive for Apple to continue to manufacture the H1 chip at such a low scale in this day and age. It seems like it was just a chip swap out (until reviews can sort it out). If they are planning on releasing the H3 chip later this year, getting rid of the H2 stock makes sense. Notice Apple didn’t raise the price or even market this other than a press release statement.

Small but useful change. More than this it would have been good if there was an option to completely power down the headphone using the button.

The people looking for that have myriad other options available, already. Understanding that, Apple’s offering is for those very few that don’t want a on/off button or lighter weight.
This is possibly the most hilarious thing I’ve ever read. Sorry, but on what earth are you living that there are people who don’t want an on/off button? You may of course find some people who don’t particularly care, but what possible reason is there for people to actively not want one including? Don’t say weight, because the weight of an added button would be negligible, doubling up the functionality of an existing button would add no weight whatsoever. I love my APM, but the weight of them is ridiculous, and it’s nothing to do with buttons and everything to do with the materials chosen to build the things from.

We will be supporting future asap.

You will be surprised at the feedback we get for AirPods photo capturing.
