Following a few colors of the AirPods Max appearing on Amazon and Verizon last week, and then disappearing a few days later, today Silver and Space Gray options have emerged again. You can get the Silver and Space Gray AirPods Max on Amazon for $549.00, and both are in stock and ready to ship.

At the time of writing, you can only get the Silver AirPods Max on Verizon, priced as expected at $549.00. Similarly, on B&H Photo you'll find the Silver AirPods Max available to ship out today.

We've been keeping track of AirPods Max stock at third-party retailers because the headphones still have shipping estimates delayed by over a month on Apple's website. It's typically easier to purchase the Silver and Space Gray options, but last week we did see Sky Blue available for a short time.

AirPods Max feature Active Noise Cancellation technology and the same Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ, and spatial audio features that are in the AirPods Pro. If you're hunting for even more AirPods deals, we track sales for every model of the AirPods in our Best AirPods Deals guide.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with these vendors. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

I’ll wait a while. Once supply meets demand, they will go on sale. I’d like to try them and keep them if I like them. But not at $549?
There have been a number of open box returns on Amazon, as low as $420. I got my APM, in pristine condition, from Amazon for $447. They are amazing headphones.

Got my space gray ones from Verizon on Friday. These have exceeded my expectations so far regarding sound, I just wish they were more comfortable for long periods of time.

Probably not any better than a pair of $200 Bose or Sony headphones. With loads of people out of work or on a reduced budget because of Covid-19, these definitely shouldn't be a priority. Apple should tread carefully with production as to not severely outstrip supply with demand, or else you may see these end up in the $250 range.

It would need to be priced a couple of hundred dollars less and there would have to be a power button for me to even consider it. I can barely justify the price of regular AirPods but beyond that neither AirPods Pro nor AirPods Max appeal to me based on cost and features I care about. If I’m in my car I’m listening via CarPlay, not headphones. If I’m at home I’m listening via a HomePod or HomePod mini. I’d only use it if I’m traveling which isn’t much these days. If I traveled more maybe I could justify the noise cancellation in the AirPods Pro but that’s about it.

If you haven't done any real testing then you're making a baseless claim.

Please step out of your reality and understand that just because some people are on layoff doesn't mean Apple should lower prices on their headphones. That makes zero sense. And if anyone is on a reduced budget then they have no business buying any entertainment devices since there are other priorities such as rent, mortgage, food, gas & electric. And if they are stupid enough to buy expensive tech then that's their business. Not sure why you think it's Apple's responsibility to lower prices.

Please don't pretend that you know Apple's business better than they do.

Not sure why everyone goes mad on the price of these. All apple stuff is overpriced and you can always get something as good for cheaper from a rival. That’s true of smartphones, tablets, laptops (although the M1 macs change that a bit) and the same with headphones now.

I'll wait for v2. Airpod Pros are doing the trick just fine.

Does anyone own both and have insight?

You really care about saving $50 when you're spending $500?
You really think it's going to be a $50 discount? Lol. More like a $200-$300 discount. The headphones are ugly, massive, and lack basic functional features. Apple has made some great products over the years, but this won't be around in 2023 like many other products that were shelved. The demand for these only seems high right now because diehards are trying to get these when barely any have been made.

Nobody said Apple should lower the prices of their products because many people are on a reduced income, so of course what you said doesn't make any sense, because you're making things up in your mind as you type.

I'm saying the demand won't be there for these headphones to last very long. Ultimately, these headphones will go the way of the Apple Watch version that was priced at several thousand dollars... Gone and replaced by just the cheaper model, because the average consumer didn't care for a $5,000 Apple Watch, and won't care for a pair of $550 headphones when a pair of $100-$200 headphones makes up most of the market.

Of course demand seems high for these right now -- because each store got like 15 of these at launch and like everything else, you'll get die-hard fans drooling all over the product (which is fine). Over time, sales of these will be poor because most people can't afford or are willing to shell out $550 for a pair of headphones made by a company that's never been able to produce a quality headphone.

You also claim "I shouldn't bash Apple's business model because I know nothing about it."... Except I know Apple's business thrives on software and services now, not hardware (Apple One, Apple Pay, Apple Card, TV services, Apple Arcade, Health, Apple Music, and most improvements are software related are just examples of this). Apple hasn't brought any new hardware worth talking about to the table since the Apple Watch. The Apple Card was based around mostly software that allows the card to be innovative. New Macs with M1 chips? it's a computer with a non-Intel chip in it. AirPods? It has poor battery life and poor sound quality. Apple is a software and services company now, and that's where their expertise now lies, and is their cash cow, so why do you think the AirPods Max be successful? I certainly don't think they will be.

That's exactly what is being said by complaining about the price. Things don't have to be said word for word to get it. Don't pretend that you didn't understand what that meant because that's the #1 complaint about the Air Pods Max on this forum and then this silly post about people being on COVID layoff. Do the math. Figure it out.
I'm saying the demand won't be there for these headphones to last very long.
You have no proof of that? That's nothing but your own thoughts and apparently that's what you hope for. The same was said about the iPad, the iPhone and especially the Apple Watch which is now the #1 selling Smart Watch.

Again those are your own thoughts and baseless claims.

Nice attempt at trolling. Apparently you're dying for them to fail just to satisfy your own anti-Apple mentality.

Oh do you suddenly run Apple and know all their financial sheets, meeting minutes or articles of incorporation? ?
Apple hasn't brought any new hardware worth talking about to the table since the Apple Watch.
Ah except they've been extremely busy creating the fastest laptop processor rivaling desktop performance with more than twice the battery life and gpu performance of any laptop in it's class and professional Windows laptops costing hundreds more. Wow the hate is strong here. Shame. I'm done here because you have a strong agenda and others can see it too. I've been PM'd 3 times since you posted this with people saying to ignore you. I will.

Are most going with Space gray or silver? Love the idea of silver but may get dirty :(
