More i read about early adopters and watching their videos the more i want to have them. These are typical Apple product launch. First people go crazy for the price and say they will sound bad and can’t beat others and so on. Now the more user experiences we get, they clearly are really great headphones. i also think they will sell really well and the design going to be iconic which going to be copied. i just wondering if almost only thing people complain about these is the price. Will Apple release those rumoured sport model with cheaper materials. Based on early data those would be instant hit. Or do Apple only play the premium game with these.

Yeah, I have no doubt these are really good, it's just out of my price range right now. Now, if the Sport comes in with similar specs at a lower price, I might be all over those.

You‘ve the right point of view on this.

The AirPods Max were not designed to be light or portable, clearly, and you have a product that you‘re satisfied with.

I do wonder if Apple will extend their over ear lineup to cater to the lower end market, since they already produce Beats, which are a cheap, sorry, ’more affordable’ variant.
Bluetooth wireless headphones weren't designed to be portable?

you have seen the price on the H95's right? I own the H9's and the H9i- love them both but I passed on the H95 at that price point.
I don't think this eurodouch cares about the price of the H95's.

If they weren't selling, they wouldn't sell them. B&O has always been, to me, the Saab of personal electronics.

I don't mind the weight at all thus far. But I will have to use them for several hours to be certain as a lot of headphones can feel rather comfortable, to begin with but feel rather bad after having them on your head for an extended amount of time. But so far they don't feel any worse than my Bose NC 700. You definitely notice that you have more weight on your head so when you turn around etc you feel that you have more weight swinging around. But in terms of pressure on my head and things like that, there isn't any noticeable difference compared to using my Bose NC 700. The earpads are in fact much more spacious and have much better breathability so those feel nicer around my ears.

This. And if they were not intended to be portable, then there should be a wired passive mode so that they can be used with a proper desktop setup. And why do I need ANC if they are for home office use? Just some strange marketing choices at work here. Is it a portable ANC headphone, a high end audiophile headphone or something in between? Seems like it is something in between but that just narrows the market further as it offers the worst of both worlds. The saving grace appears to be typical impeccable Apple build quality but honestly, I don't personally prioritize this in a headphone.

I hate that you have to use the 'case' for standby mode without severe battery drain

learned that from Marques Brownlee video
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think he mentioned that the headphones should go into standby automatically about 2 hours after taking it off since the eat cups have sensors that detects if you’re wearing them. The case just puts them into standby mode immediately. I doubt that only being connected to your phone for 2 hours without playback would drain the battery that quickly anyways with the H1 chip.

I see most posts still cite the price as if it's cleaver and they are the first to do so.

I’m so sick of the price shock.

High quality headphones can cost well over $550. It’s all going to be down to the sound. People that buy high end headphones will judge their worth.
A good article is The ultimate guide to Bluetooth headphones: AAC only acceptable on Apple phones - SoundGuys

AAC is one of the more intriguing Bluetooth codecs to analyze, owing to its psychoacoustic rather frequency band quantization. This makes judging its quality a little tougher, as we have to take into consideration auditory masking rather than the consistent noise floor that we see with other codecs, CD, and Hi-Res files.

Still your going have a lot of people point out that no matter the cost and workmanship of the headphone, the AAC Bluetooth will limit audio quality. :)

As one who owned the H7 Gen.1, H9 Gen.1 and H9 Gen.2 and the H9i I can attest to the build quality of B&O. But the H9i was a huge miss for me. The slimmed-down the ear pads and my ear was actually touching the insides of the headphones with the new and slimmer earpads so they hurt my ears a ton in no time. Worst design change ever.. I didn't find the ANC or microphones any good either.

Out of all of them, I actually enjoyed the H7 the most. The most disappointing thing about all of them is how neither had neutral sound or balanced sound for that matter. I did expect much more from B&O especially considering the price. But I kept them because they have a much wider soundstage compared to the competition and I love the built quality.

I haven't tried the H95, mostly because I didn't think they would be worth it at all considering my experience with H7, H9 and H9i.

If you are one that likes the sound of the BeoPlay's I think you will like the sound of the AirPods Max quite a lot. They are even wider and more spacious all while being more neutral and balanced.

Now that's one product I'm definitely staying away from. It's clearly only getting attention cause it's made by Apple.

I'll wait for the v2 that's gonna be lighter, prettier, with USB-C (or wireless charging) and perhaps without a useless ugly case.

No. The best headphones on the market are the few types universally used by audio engineers who work in studios or location sound recording. None of these people pay $500. The industry standards tend to be $100 or less. High priced headphones are for home users who are more gullible.

You might think you need $500 headphones but the guy who mastered the recording almost certainly did not think so. Which are the "best" professional headphones? It really depends on the industry. The TV and motion picture industry uses a certain model Sony and a couple of different AKG are the most common in the music business.

Oddly, this is not the same as speakers. Pros working in a studio will be happy to outspend the average consumer when it comes to speakers by the same huge amounts

My other comment, some will get, others won't care. I watch a lot of movies while on a plane, and the Max with its Spatial Audio just blows my MX4 away as if the MX4 wasn't even there. Apple does more with computational audio than anyone else I know, and if its something you like, you will love it on the Max. I know to some this is not a consideration, they don't care, they just want to listen to their hard rock with the base cranked. and that is fine. But for those of us that like to watch movies, all I can say is the sound experience from this $550 Max rivals the experience I get from my $2000 Sonos Surround System. It is crazy good and definitely has earned the Max's place in my travel bag. I just have to show some restraint and not use it with the TV in front of my wife.
You had me until you started talking about watching movies on a plane and sound quality. The only, and I mean ONLY thing that matters in this situation is the ANC with regards to low frequencies and chatter. None of the current top brands is able to filter out background noise to a level that differences in sound accuracy and clarity would even remotely matter. I don't mind good gear, but your comment sounds like you are just celebrating expensive stuff.

I really can't understand why Apple didn't do something "magical" with the case... a premium headphone should come with a protective hardshell case. They could have added a battery pack for wireless charging or some other "smart" feature to differentiate it from other premium headphones.

When I got into knowing more about recording, I was expecting everything to be very expensive. The 'best' studio speakers (monitors) were the NS10m's by Yamaha. Not expansive at all. A friend of a friend was having a party, and they said that I should come and see his speaker system. I was curious, and asked why I would give a rip. 'Because they cost over $60,000!' They were kinda like the huge Klipsch speakers I used to see when I was young, only they had an exposed 'thing' on top that looked like a hood ornament for a cheesy car. The sound was good, but not worth the money. I thought they were a Linear brand, or something. The speakers cost more than his house! Well, back in high school my car stereo was more expensive than the car it was installed in, so... But still. People will spend HUGH money of things they *think* either make them look cool, or are better than what everyone else has. It's silly, but...
