Tell me more about the one that costs only $249 and sounds better.

This is a list of the 5 headphones (one is without ANC) that are better than the AirPods Max. Prices are in € at the time of publication. The source is Audio.de
And I was able to listen to all of them, except the new Dyson.
DALI IO-12 are the best

Exactly what keeps me them from getting them at this price. The only lightning device I use is my AirPods Pro 1, and even those, I charge via wireless.
I was holding off for this reason, but they got me with the ~$350 price a few months ago. I figured I can toss an old lightning cable in my travel bag and save a good chunk of cash via buying the new usb-c edition. I love usb-c, but I’m a cheap bastard.

No Focal Bathys on that list?

To be honest, I have not heard them. But in another magazine, Stereo.de, they rate them just above the B&O H95.
But you know they are more expensive than $250.

I have APM, Bathys, and Dali IO-12. They are all great for different reasons. I would get the PX-8 and H95 as well but I am afraid the ear cups are too small. Can anyone out there calm my fears? BTW... I have like 20 pairs of headphones in total and can't get enough. My absolute faves are: Hifiman Arya Organic (open... very open actually), Dan Clark Ether Flow C 1.1 (closed back and so chill), and Dali IO-12 (great sound wireless but very iffy ANC), Bathys (wireless , very punchy, and almost good ANC), and the APM (great ANC and okay sound). Honorable mention is the Sennheiser HD 600 (just because I love these guys for 20 years).

Same, my olde headphones are near dead after 7 years but I refuse to have any 'new' lightning devices in the house.
