Following stock at Verizon last week, today we're seeing refreshed stock for the AirPods Max in Silver at Amazon for a price of $549.00. If you have Amazon Prime's two-day shipping option, you can get the AirPods Max in the mail as soon as early next week.

In weeks past, we've seen Silver and Space Gray routinely appear in stock at places like Verizon, Amazon, and B&H Photo. The other three colors have been tougher to find in stock in February, but Sky Blue did appear in stock alongside Silver and Space Gray earlier in the month.

We've been keeping track of ‌‌AirPods Max‌‌ stock at third-party retailers because the headphones still have shipping estimates delayed as far as April on Apple's website. If you're interested in getting the over-ear headphones as soon as possible, one of these retailers will be your best bet for the foreseeable future.

‌AirPods Max‌‌ feature Active Noise Cancellation technology and the same Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ, and spatial audio features that are in the AirPods Pro. If you're hunting for even more AirPods deals, we track sales for every model of the ‌‌AirPods‌‌ in our Best AirPods Deals guide.

a bit of context (by the way, $299 in 2001 = $450 today:

In an October 2001 column for The New York Times, well-known tech writer David Pogue described the iPod as "the most beautiful and cleverly engineered MP3 player ever," suggesting that it would become a smash hit if Apple lowered its price and made it compatible with Windows:

Apple clearly believes that the iPod's advances in size, speed, function and elegance are worth the $150 price premium, but not everyone feels that way. In an informal poll at the Macworld.com Web site, 40 percent of Mac fans indicated that they would not be buying an iPod, and every single one cited the price.
It should also be noted, however, that the remaining 60 percent had either already ordered iPods or were virtually drooling into their keyboards. They are among the first to succumb to the lure of the most beautiful and cleverly engineered MP3 player ever. But if Apple ever lowers the iPod’s price and develops Windows software for it, watch out: the invasion of the iPod people will surely begin in earnest.
Apple did lower the price to $199 a year later.

I’ve resisted these so long that I guess I no longer want them. I put some new cushy pads on my existing over ear headphones and parked the money saved in my fund for future replacement of my Airpods Pro (exercise headphones I actually consider essential).

I love Apple products but even I draw the line at £549.

I could only just about justify £249 for my Beats Stuido 3s and i used them virtually everyday for almost 3 years before they died on me.

Now if the AirPod Maxes were about £300 and came with a better case and a lightening cable that supported audio transmission too then maybe. Just maybe.

Although, I hate to say but I feel Apple have repeated the same mistake they made with their first HomePod. Made a great product but have alienated their potential customer’s by charging too much for a product that only plays nice within the Apple Walled Garden.

Failure to learn from your history Apple, means you’re doomed to repeat it.

Yes...all the way to the bank and becoming one of the most successful companies in the world with more than 1 billion active customer accounts.

Must. Resist. The. Temptation.

I wonder what the refurbished price will be? $350? $375? I might bite.

Since noise cancellation isn't my priority, I find the Momentum 3 headphones experience nice. Although I must confess, I haven't used or been inclined to try the AirPods Max.

At half, they still are more expensive then the XM4s! Let that sink in. It’s nuts.

But, if people like them and have the money to burn, go for it! Live your life and do what makes you happy.
I imagine over time they will slowly but surely drop in price to more closely match their competitors prices.

But I think Apple is going to be quite successful with this product. It’s definitely much more in reality than Neil Young’s failed dedicated $400 audio Pono player and supposed “ super studio quality format” album rereleases at about $25 a pop.

I have the black ones, and I no longer use my Sony XMs or Bose QCs. The Airpods Max are definitely better sounding, and IMO, more comfortable. Plus, their feature set while using the iPhone or iPad is crazy. The Spatial Audio is wild. Great in my Airpods Pro, but WAY better with the Max.

I still use my 'regular' Airpods way more than either my Pro or Max though.

I was really disappointed that they didn’t make the cheaper version for working out. My Airpods pros are great but end up falling out of my ear every so often. I’ll buy them though if they ever are waterproof, better case, and have a power button.

Finally got my Blue pair in the mail. Absolutely love them. The clarity at high volume is just delightful, and the features like Transparency and Spatial Audio work like magic. It feels like I have a magic wand to control sound in my environment.
