Seems like I've been a bit too adventurous with my recent Apple tech purchases, because I've run into a ton of issues. Lots of things have been resolved by now, but there's one issue that still hasn't been fixed.

Whenever I use my Airpods Max in a Microsoft Teams meeting, my microphone keeps cutting out, soundin weird or causing nothing but problems. My colleagues have been complaining so much that I've had to switch to some ****** old 50$ gaming headset which I use now instead of my 600$ Airpods max, because it works better...

I'm not entirely sure what causes these issues, so I wanted to talk to some of you guys to figure out if I'm the only one with this issue or not.

So my question is: Does anyone here have:

- An M1 mac mini
- Airpods Max
- Microsoft Teams

and has massive problems with the microphone in meetings?

Teams has been troubleshooting with several AirPods models for me. AirPods Max with Teams on iPad Pro (M1) and MacBook Air (M1) and have had audio phase out once on each device but always comes back in quickly. AirPods (Gen2) have had issues with Teams and Zoom on MacBook Air (M1). Disabling Handoff on the Mac seems to improve overall Bluetooth performance, but there might still be a hiccup here and there. No issues when consuming media or with phone/FaceTime calls.

I wouldn't blame the Max. I would blame Teams and the wonky Bluetooth on currently shipping M1 Macs.

Big sur is also the cause

@DonJimmy you should probably see this thread here, it's likely to be a flawed firmware from Apple, exactly the same problem occurs for AirPods Pro users:

And on Apple's own support forums (7000+ complaints about the microphone cutting out, exactly as you describe, it could be the same firmware also affecting your AirPods Max):
