Airpods Max requires "Hey Siri", not "Siri"

I just got Airpods Max, and was surprised to learn it doesn't respond to "Siri" like Airpods Pro or iPhone. Instead, it still requires "Hey Siri".
Can anyone explain why?

Not sure, maybe it's because they still have the old H1 chip

I'm guessing the H1 chip is responsible for that. Didn't even know that!
