How do you disable AirPods detection on the AppleTV?

We have 3 AppleTV’s and this “feature” is really annoying because any time I pass by a TV that someone else is watching then it pops up. I’ve disabled auto-switching on the AirPods but it still constantly announces “AirPods Nearby” to the TV.

Based on several months of beta testing and latest updates then there seems to be no setting for this on TV or Phone. So if I’m missing a confirmed solution then I’d appreciate it.

I had to turn this off too, and it took me some time to find it… but it is possible :)

On Apple TV:

Settings → Remotes and devices → Bluetooth

I have multiple Apple devices active and running frequently. And the easiest thing to do is to go to Bluetooth and DISCONNECT them from each other. So your AirPods will ONLY be active with 1 device. To switch devices, disconnect on 1 device and then connect on the new device. Otherwise you will be getting all sorts of messages and prompts. I usually have 1 Apple TV, 2 Apple MacBook Pro's, 1 or 2 iPhones and 1 iPad going. It can be a nightmare.

Like some answers say, try going to Bluetooth and seeing if you can disconnect it there or turn it off. Mine oddly picks up my neighbors Amazon ECHO, Bluetooth will show 3 active Echo's sometimes. But I never connect with any of them. I just hope they can not se what I am watching!!

This is by far the worst "feature" of the new TVOS. It was much better how it was implemented before - you swiped down from the top of the screen and selected the AirPods you wanted to play through in the "audio" menu. This new "pop-up" method is truly obnoxious, and I hope they give us the option to change it back to the old method someday.
