Now that the calendar has flipped over into January, steep discounts on popular Apple products have become more rare after the holidays. However, if you didn't get a new pair of AirPods recently and are looking for a model on sale, Amazon does have a few solid second-best prices this week.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with some of these vendors. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

This includes the AirPods 4 for $99.00, down from $129.00, the AirPods Pro 3 for $219.99, down from $249.00, and the AirPods Max for $449.99, down from $549.00. Most of these AirPods will arrive around January 9 with free shipping options, but Prime members should see delivery dates within the next few days in most cases.

It's also worth noting that if you prefer to shop at Best Buy, you'll find all of these sales being matched at that retailer right now. If you're on the hunt for more discounts, be sure to visit our Apple Deals roundup where we recap the best Apple-related bargains of the past week.

I decided I'm switching to another wireless in-ear brand when I replace my APP2; I've heard too many bad things about the APP3 (poor fit and static). My Sony over-ears do multi-device switching almost as well as AirPods but the Apple advantage means nothing when iOS and MacOS are buggy, contain un-deletable bloatware, and are constantly worsened with each new release. I feel it's not an "ecosystem" worth being stuck in anymore.

I'd love to buy the AirPods Max but 1) $449 is not as good as the $399 Black Friday Amazon sale and 2) I'd rather wait until Apple actually gives them feature parity with the AirPods Pro and makes them worth buying.

Hey, Siri, I just bought some AirPods Pro 2, should I throw them in a landfill to get the new AirPods Pro 3? Thank you for your attention to this matter.

They to add a proper case for the Airpods max as well, enough with the googie-style art deco nonsense. Every other premium brand of headphones comes with a nice sturdy case, considering the price we pay this should automatically be a given with high end apple products

Counterpoint: a bulky case for the sake of a bulky case is wasteful and unneeded. The ‘case’ provided minimizes the space needed in carry-ons and backpacks, protects just as well as an all encompassing case, and is probably even overkill for most users who never even take their headphones out of the house. Just because fragile plastic enclosed Sonys, Focals or planars need the protection doesn’t mean that closed-backs milled from solid aluminum also need such protection. Finally, other high end headphones often use wired connections. Those need cases to help manage lengthy and bulky cables which the APM do not need. Want a bulky carry case? They’re as cheap as you want them anywhere online. No need to saddle others with the materials, bulk, or cost.

Let us know to which ecosystem you switch that is better.
So Apple is the least bad in your opinion? I'd rather just use the best devices in their category instead of being locked in to Apple for the sake of multi device switching.

My experience is that for the categories about which I care (desktop/laptops, tablets, phones, streaming devices and watches), Apple’s products are either the best out there, or when considered as part of the ecosystem as a whole they are the best. The benefits one gains as part of their are substantial.

Coming from someone that got the APP3 recently after loving the APP2, realistically if your second gen are working fine i don't find anything to much of an upgrade on the 3rd gen. The noise cancelation might be a bit more improved but the fit might be slightly more awkward. (The only reason i upgraded is because the 2nd gen case just died and stopped charging the airpods and we had a few 1st gen cases around but apparently they don't charge second gen airpods... And it was whenthey were giving a giftcard for buying airpods... so eh)
