When I am wearing my AirPods (2. gen), any notification (like iMessage) sound is extremely loud and hurts my ears. Adjusting volume doesn’t seem to affect it. Found some discussion about this online and found this instruction how to fix it but there is no AirPods option under Accessibility. I did have them connected and in my ears. Please help, I practically can’t use them now without risking hearing damage and even without that it’s really uncomfortable.

You can change the ringtone or enable the headphone safety option in settings
