AirPods only one ear

I play a lot of poker and like to have one ear bud in at a time. If I buy AirPods, can I only put one ear in and still play?

I've been wearing one in my ear all day at work, the right ear began to run low so I simply popped the left in and took the right out once the left started playing.

I bought them specifically for this usage.
