Hi so I took an reservation with Apple store in California for my Airpods as one of them wasn't retaining charge for longer than 1-2 hours.

It was out of warranty about over 1.5 years. So I met the apple guy in the store, and he said that I could replace one of the defective ones for $69

I had read the airpods repair page here before coming:

https://support.apple.com/airpods/repair/service

And this page says there is a battery repair option too for $49. Can someone please tell me why I was not offered a battery repair option for the airpod? Thanks!

Just a guess... but perhaps because it was out of warranty, so the Out of Warranty fee would apply...

Naah he only gave me a replacement option. He didn't even offer me battery repair option. The airpod repair page on apple.com clearly states there is a battery repair option :-(

I’d say for a year and a half out of warranty plus how ever long you got out of them pay the 69 and get a new pair and say thanks

At less than half the cost of a set, it seems fairly reasonable to me, actually.
i just check the price... 79 euros, and if you need to replace both of them - as you can suppose if already one has a battery problem - it is 158 euros. you get a brand new set for 149 euros. that is ridiculous!

apple should offer better deal for people who already has airpods and needs a battery replacement.. something like ”when you return the old airpod, the new one is 49 euros, but if you want to keep it, the price is 79 euros”, for example.

ummmm...each piece is $69. Each earpod, and the case. So a full refurbished replacement set would cost $207, or you can buy brand new for $169. How is that reasonable, especially when the phones can be replaced for half of their original cost if damaged?

Are they on crack? A big 20 bucks off. What a rip off.
I’m sorry, but it’s a rip-off to give you a discount on a replacement product? (When their obligation is zilch?)

Tip: if you buy from Best Buy get the geek squad plan and get a new one before the plan expires. I did that with my router. They don’t even give you a hard time
Are you suggesting fraud?
