Mine took about 6 hours from placing to stating it shipped. I did call AT&T to confirm that they had the stock to fulfill orders and was told that if it's on the site those orders are good to go.

I'm not holding my breath on any pre-orders of any kind lately. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
Here's how things will go... Since I chose the expedited shipping, I had it shipped to my work assuming a signature will be needed. Office is closed on Saturdays, so they will ship whenever is appropriate to ensure delivery is attempted when the office is closed.
Additionally, AT&T and Apple will ship at the same time (ATT later than expected, and Apple several weeks early), to ensure I have to deal with returning one of the pair. 😎

Ordered from apple and Best Buy websites today. Both websites indicated a wait of several weeks. Received a shipping notice from Best Buy for a Thursday delivery.

Ordered 12/13, sometime in the 1030-1330 range. Original 1/12, delivered today.
Showed up with 73%/25% charge so I had to top them up for a few minutes. So far so good. The mics are really sensitive - I can't quite subvocalize, but I can speak very softly and Siri will understand. (Of course, that means she still can't answer most things..)
Strangely, Siri on my MacBook has similar sensitivity.

I got a shipping notice from Apple on Jan 1. Apple states delivery day as Jan 4 (Wednesday), but UPS says Jan 6 (Friday). I suppose that's a normal discrepancy. At any rate, the 6th is a week sooner than Apple estimated when I first ordered.
On the UPS tracking page, the package has just been sitting in Shanghai since Jan 1, with no movement. Is that normal? I assume it'll start moving in time to make it here by their scheduled delivery date?

Thanks for the info guys!! I checked around and just found them on Verizon with free 2 day delivery (Friday). I almost pulled the trigger several times on EBay for $200 -225.
Did Verizon quote that delivery date in your order email? I'm hesitant to pull the trigger because o see no Shiping or delivery date on their website.
Not in the email but I think when I put them in the cart it said "delivery by 1/6". It definitely said it somewhere in the checkout. I made sure or I wouldn't have ordered.In the confirmation email there is an order status link. When I click that it says expected ship date is today 1/4. Free 2 day shipping.
EDIT- put them in cart and go to checkout. Scroll down to bottom of page and it will give you shipping estimate.

I ordered from best buy on 12/29 and just got a shipping notification that they will be here on Jan 6....................... A lot faster than I thought

Thank you, just ordered mine. I swear it wasn't displaying those dates (or any dates)when I checked yesterday afternoon. Doesn't matter, come Friday I'll forget all about how long I had to wait to get them.

Just cancelled my AT&T order which didn't ship yesterday as they told me it would through chat.
Ordered through Verizon, confirmation email states they will be here by 10AM tomorrow. Assuming I get an actual shipping notification from them I'll cancel my original Apple order.

Anyone with an early pre-order (meaning from Apple back in Dec) showing a delivery date of today per UPS, but tracking stops in KY last night? Last activity is Import Scan in KY around 2am EST.
i.e., UPS says they're getting the package to me today (in another state) but tracking doesn't show it exiting KY yet. I can't remember if 'blackouts' happen on tracking this late in the process.

Mine have also been in Shanghai for the past few days (according to UPS tracking). However, I still have a delivery date of tomorrow (05 Jan).
Edit: actually, looks like they just left Shanghai.
Same here. Just noticed a departure scan from Shanghai this morning. Apple says 4th still but UPS date of the 6th is prob more accurate.

I figure it's either all going to go boom at once and show up at my door, or UPS's system will realize they lost track of it and bump the date to tomorrow, sometime later tonight.
Folks in Southeast in general: Don't forget there's a winter storm incoming Friday night/Saturday that may bork things, particularly if you're in GA/SC/NC.
