Is it just me or did AirPods work better when they dropped than now? They don't automatically connect most of the times now, hell, they don't even connect to my MacBook. Also, I own 3 pairs; it's not an isolated case.

I think they used to work better. Now, getting the damned battery thing to pop up is hit-or-miss. And it will drop connection for no reason. Or is slow to show up on the list of B.T. items.

The Apple Watch is the same way. Used to unlock my Mac 100% of the time without issue. Couple of MacOS releases and it was failing ~75% of the time, so turned it off because I can log in quicker by typing my password if I expect that password field to be there all of the time.

And there’s all these other little thing about Apple products lately that have gotten irritating, like my phone refusing to connect to the network, the alarm on the watch turning off my AirPods when I’m listening to my phone, AppleTV saying my iTunes server has no content and then refusing to change its mind until I restart the Apple TV.

Apple before: It just works

Apple now: It’s just good enough

The batteries in my Airpods are very bad now after only 2 years. Probably wont buy them again because of that.

If only they had a way to tap or slide your finger on the AirPods themselves to adjust volume. Siri and adjusting volume on the device just didn't cut it for me, so I had to return. Otherwise, they are

Try doing that while running without knock them out - that’s what the Apple Watch is for.

They fell right out of my ears. I even tried a few hacks from fellow MacRumors folks. Still fell out. Brought them back to Apple the next day.

We don’t care about your big ears or that you returned..adds zero value to the discussion.

I don't run, and many people don't, so that is not an issue I care about. Also, so what if they added the functionality for those of us who want it and don't run? You don't have to use it. Keep adjusting your volume by your Watch if that's what you like.

The poster you were rudely responding to was posting on topic.

From the thread article:

AirPods have a number of unique features when used on an Apple device, and they've been designed to work well with all of your Apple products. If you're considering AirPods you'll want to check out this list so you know just what makes them so special.

[*]Zero wires
[*]Comfortable fit
...

The poster addressing the comfort / fit aspect mentioned in the article. Your post is what failed to add anything of substance to the topic of discussion.

Or, we could wait to see what Apple actually has in store aside from what rumors say

Agreed, Thats why I wrote please surprise us :)
As for your other comment I agree they don’t need to make a lot of improvements since they are so popular, but it feel like that’s what apple used to do. Go above and beyond what you expected instead of just doing incremental upgrades. But seems like that’s a thing of the past (or maybe I’m just romanticizing the the past ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Wow, okay, we share the same issues then! I thought it was just me. However, my Apple Watch (Series 4) works like a charm at unlocking my Macbook. I hope yours get resolved.

What sucks is that I got a pair of AirPods two weeks ago and they won't pair with my Macbook Pro (2017). The other day I had to watch a video for my University and I was at a public place stuck with the AirPods/Earpods and none worked...mess!

Ok I will!

I'd love a pair, but I'm afraid they'll fall right out of my ears like the wired headphones they give you.

That’s fine, but for the third time, I don’t have or want a watch. I just am hoping for a simple functionality to control volume manually on the AirPods themselves.

Well you can, double tap the an AirPod and just say increase/decrease volume 10% etc. BTW I’ve been riding to work for over 2 years now using AirPods and they’ve never fallen out. I listen to audiobooks not loud music, and like AirPods for this use because they arn’t a tight fit.

Not interested in using voice commands.

AirPods are a decent product but having to use voice commands or the phone to control it is a PITA!

The only reason I have them is because I also have an AppleWatch.

Prefer wired headphones. Everything wireless is by definition, some form of EM radiation. And buds sit next to your brain. Just something to keep in mind...

Technically that big ass magnet in your wired headphones also emits radiation...
