That's not really a surprise. If you look at the global smartphone market, there are really only two OS's of any consequence - Android and iOS. Of the smartphones in existence, about 35-40% of them are Apple devices. Most of the other 60%+ are Android-based (there are others, but let's be real - those are a drop in the bucket).

So you look at what mobile devices are out there and it's an easy call to see that Apple users would get Apple earbuds which are optimized for their devices. This is one of the benefits of having a closed ecosystem. The Android ecosystem is extremely fragmented.

McDonald's sells more hamburgers than any other restaurant. Does that make them the best product too?
And Windows has maintained dominance over MacOS and Linux. Does that make Windows the best or even better OS? Hell no! I would say the high percentage of satisfied AirPods users says it is the best product in it's class.

People go to McDonalds because it’s cheap. funny thing is that AirPods are more expensive than most of these other wireless headsets, which makes your comparison really bad. Apple owns this market for same reason why they own tablet market and smartwatch market, Apple have most valuable users In the market. AirPods pro cost same or more than average Android phone.

McDonald isn't cheap. in most countries i have been, non-branded local street food it's always cheaper than it, not mentioning you can also order a beer instead of coca-cola/fanta/sprite. mcdonald sells better because its brand is powerful, just like apple. more than 10 years ago i had a pair of sony BT in-earphones worth 250€ (best earphones at that time), now after 10 years there is hype around these airpods because are TRUE wireless. whats the difference between them? the wire the goes around the neck? really? is it really a bad thing that 2 "connected" headphones when falls, dont drops also in the sewers or between seats in a car? but this is a personal choice so ill not judge someone that prefer TRUE wireless. what i dont understand is that people buy something because of a brand. first we had beats by dr dre, now airpods. people buy them because are cool. personally if i had to get expensive headphones, my first choice should be expert brands (akg, marshall, bose, etc) not a brand like apple that even if makes best phones/tablets on the planett, knows almost nothing about audiophiles...

AirPods happen to be the best product, the most popular and a very sought after one, which translates in an almost unbelievable resale value. Your analogy is out of place.

Resale value is almost nothing unless you sell it a few months later. It’s a good product with a very limited lifespan. Once the battery decays, it’s worth zero.

Had a good several year run with my tws i7 earbuds. I don’t even see them on the list. Only $19 and last 3 hours (1 1/2 hr per bud) :p

Rubish analogy. "Hamburgers" of wriless headsets are the ones you buy for few $ (AirPod clones) on Amazon and other market places. AirPods are not cheap by any means. AirPods are the most popular wirless headset! I would not say McDonald's hamburgers are popular, but rather a quick/cheap temporary fix.

Not really surprising when you need to replace them after three years because the battery is shot.
I am still using the original version. Been using them for over 4 years on every single day and have no desire to upgrade them anytime soon. Probably the best Apple product I have spend my £ on.
