Slide controls are probably the biggest thing for the AirPods Pro. Finally volume controls without the need for Siri or touching the device.

No USB-C or alternate colours are a let down. Charge cable uniformity across Apple devices still needs a lot of work.

Normally, I’d pick these up in an instant, but knowing USB-C may be coming next year, I dunno….
Slide controls are nice, but the biggest thing for me is the additional battery life over the previous 4.5h. As for charging, AirPods are one of those devices that are made for wireless chargers, since it doesn't need fast charging and you can charge the case while using it. Plopping it down when you get homes is so much more convenient. I can count on my fingers the number of times I actually plugged them in.

Wow. That’s remarkable because I can’t say I’ve ever once fully drained my AirPods Pro or the case, and I’ve never used the Qi charging with the case.

I always plug them in when I charge my phone and watch right before bed, and the case always has at least 60% charge at that point.

I wear mine through lots of music and hour-long remote meetings, and you'd be surprised at how short the battery life is when you use it like that. I usually leave my case on the Qi charger topped up and charge my AirPods when I'm taking a break or when I get home. As for my watch and phone, I charge them when I take a shower and that seems to last me through most days (and nights).

I‘m done with Apple’s AirPods and went with the Samsung Galaxy 2 Buds Pro. Even with limited features on an Apple device I prefer them.

can you use volume they didn't say that
You’d have to assume volume‘s the main reason they’ve added that slide gesture. I was hoping they’d introduce it on the 1st gen (i’ve been picturing a slide motion on that flat edge for years myself) 🔮

Yeah I wasn’t sure if that 6h was with or without Noise Cancellation.

Just on chat with Apple earlier, where they confirmed:
6h is with Noise Cancellation,
+
Tips are interchangeable between 1st & 2nd gen AirPods Pro,
+
USB-C is unknown at this stage,
+
Support for HD audio (non-Bluetooth); “Possibly..With technology, anything is possible”.

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I *detest* Spacial Audio. I don't want my headphones changing sound when I move my head. It's absolutely infuriating. When they stealth turned it on the first time and I happened to listen to some tracks with it on while out walking, I thought my headphones were dying. Plus, when watching stuff on my TV at home, one of the main benefits of wearing my headphones is that the audio doesn't get messed up if I'm lying on my side.
I think you’re confusing spatial audio and head tracking. I agree, the head tracking aspect was off putting and I had to disable it. However, I really love the spatial audio. It makes the music so much richer. Just not when it’s tracking my head movement.

I questioned myself after reading your post as to whether I was getting things confused but since getting either my new iPhone 14 Pro or my new AirPods Pro 2 in the last week or two, I swore something was off again. I couldn't find anything in my AirPod's settings aside from 'personalising' spatial audio, i.e. no toggle like I thought there used to be. However, I was just out walking and I was listening to Take On Me by a-ha (2015 Dolby Remastered Version) and every time I moved my head it was changing where the sodding singing was coming from. I had to google how to turn off head tracking and discovered if you bring up the control panel, then long press on the volume slider, you get an option at the bottom that is "Spatialise Audio" which could toggle, for me, between 'Fixed' and 'Off'. 'Fixed' meant that every time I turned my head, the instruments seemed to be coming from a different place, 'Off' means it sounds normal. I.e. I can walk down the street and look around me without getting irritated about the audio changing direction. I'm all for improved Spatial Audio and ear scanning etc if it increases the stationary audio quality, i.e. like how decent sound cards on the PC make audio appear like it's coming from the back sometimes. 5.1 sound recreated for 2.0 headphones, that kind of thing. I'm not ok with it changing audio based on where I'm pointing my head. For some reason, these things are linked in Apple's head.
