AirPod Pro Ultras
Is our lineup now: Neo, Air, Pro, Max, Ultra for all the things?
What would Ultra bring as an extra-premium class that sits above flagship? I am sure they could market it as the best audio fidelity, but I am past the age where I could be considered an audiophile. As soon as people start talking about soundstage, I tune out (pun intended). So what else? Lower latency for gaming? Simultaneous audio from two audio sources? I heard rumors of cameras in my ears, but still not sure what the use case is for that.

Ah... a new model coming up? That may be for a good reason: higher failures with the current one?

Got the AirPods Pro 3 as a birthday present for my oldest last year. She is/was extremely happy with them. Especially its ANC, as it keeps her more concentrated when doing her work.

But... so far I had them replaced at the Apple Store twice due to sudden sound issues.
First time, nearly 4 months old, one side suddenly started to sound muffled and lower in volume. After replacing the tip (earwax) and wiping the AirPod with a clean cloth, the sound improved barely. The sealing test resulted in a yellow sign, even after trying other tips. So we went to the Apple Store and within 10 minutes they were replaced.
The second time, just last week only 2 months after the replacement, again the same side went bad. Slight echos when using ANC and slightly muffled sound. Cleaned the openings of the AirPod again, this time using a bit of putty (a trick I read somewhere). Replaced the tip and afterwards the sealing test finished OK. The sound was kind of OK, the ANC wasn't OK and there was a constant low level white noise present on the cleaned AirPod. And on occasion when putting them in it there was a short but loud feedback. So I made an appointment at the Apple Store last week and they replaced the bad one immediately.

I know for sure that she's very careful with her Apple devices. But seeing how sudden these failures appeared in a relatively short time, I already have a personal reminder set in 2/3 months: possible appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar again. 😐
