I'm struggling with my APP3s. They're just not comfortable. I could wear my APP2 all day and forget they were even in. I'm trying different sized tips but I'm starting to get this creeping feeling that I'm going to have to return them. Sad, because the noise cancellation and adaptive modes are unbelievable.

Move the slider too less audio NOT the middle. Like I said, the ANC is better than the 2s, at this point it's just a fact. You clearly either have a faulty pair or your settings aren't right. I've tried mine against the Pro 2s and there is a clear night and day difference.

Isn't this slider just for the adaptive setting and doesn't impact the noise cancellation setting at all?

Unfortunately same here so far. Will try them out a bit more after my ears recover but the APP3 are hell on my ears extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully I didn't sell off my Airpods 4 right away.

As far as im aware it is for the adaptive but is a slider of how much outside noise is let in.

I've left the settings on how they come with my Pro 3s. I dont have an issue with the ANC, it works great and miles better than my Pro 2s.

Give them time, because they are new the tips can feel tight at first, over time they will loosen up.

After experimenting a bit, it feels like it's the actual plastic of the AirPods pushing against my ears, so I don't think the tips getting worn in are really going to do anything.

I've got a good week left to test before I decide so I'll definitely keep at it. But man at the moment it's such a relief to get them out of my ears and go back to the APP2.

Your wrong

Wrong about what? The slider for adaptive audio? I probably am. As I said it’s just a setting that’s there. The ANC is amazing they way it is in my experience so I haven’t had the need to mess around with the settings.

The ones that came with it weren’t the right fit for me so I changed them to the biggest ones and they fit great for me personally. The seal on them is perfect in my experience. Everyone’s ears are different tho and I imagine they don’t work for everyone’s ears unfortunately.

The fit is fabulous but I can’t say the foam really does anything for the fit. I can’t feel it expanding at all. Just feels like it’s there for noise isolation.

I picked mine up yesterday and after comparing them to the 2's I'm quite happy. The sound is brighter and crisp. It's a worthwhile upgrade if it fits in your budget. My 2's went to my husband for now until we upgrade him. He lost an EarPods on our vacation.

I like these things (especially for the fit) - and they have advanced, but it's interesting that APP2/APP3/PBP2 all use the same H2 chip. From a search:

H2 chips: TSMC 7nm, 1B transistors, introduced 2023

Makes you wonder what kind of battery life or other features are in store when using a more modern node for an H3 chip...

I'd like to think we're on the cusp of a new energy technology (battery, wireless power) - but it just isn't there yet. lol. "Back in my day kids, we used to have to plug our devices in every few hours!"

Also Interesting - 1B transistors in that 'aged' two-year old chip. Compare that to 382M transistors in a 2010 Macbook Pro with a Core i7 640M. So ~6x the processing power (if you count both ears)

Update on bike riding with APP3s... wind is still an issue, but much better than my APP2s. I don't need to pump the volume - as I used to - to compensate for the wind noise.
Yeah I have a fan in the window blowing air on me - APP3 do a lot better job with it than my 2s.

What about the microphones? Did they improve? With my AirPods pro 1 i often got the feedback, that the other one couldn’t understand me. And this wasn’t on noisy streets rather than smaller ones…

I tested them with my daughter by calling her. She said they sounded good. Better than the AirPods Pro 2.

Interesting mix of results here. With 1's and 2's I always had to wiggle them around in my ears to get a perfect seal per Apple's eartip fit utility:

... but even then, it wouldn't last for a session: Just moving around would break the seal and the sound quality would plummet. Anyone seeing this with the 3's?

No, I have a good fit with mine. I use Comply foam tips with the APP2's but won't need them with these.
