AirPods Pro 3 now starting iTunes audio automatically

My AirPods Pro 3 have suddenly decided to auto-play music from iTunes whenever I insert them into my ears. This is mainly an issue on my laptop (2020 MBP). All the fixes online say to turn off Automatic Ear Detection, but that's not really a solve as it breaks functionality in other ways and literally doesn't solve my issue with music autoplaying in iTunes.

Has anyone else experienced this? What's the solve (if there is one)?

The answer can't literally be "find a different music player." This has never been an issue for me for years, and I've had every gen of AirPods Pro connected to this laptop. Even my current AirPods Pro 3 haven't had this issue until about a week ago.

I think you were playing music when you took them out of your ears, so when you put them back in the music starts again. Since you don't want this, actually stop the music before you remove the airpods. You can stop it with the airpod stem or in the music app.

I’m having a similar problem. When I insert my earbuds, Apple Music starts playing, even if I was using Qobuz last.

Same started happening to me this morning, I never use Apple Music, only Tidal. Stuck my AirPod Max on my head and Apple Music came up on my phone…

So I deleted the Apple Music app! 😁
