'AirPods Pro Lite' Production Reportedly Pushed Back From Planned Q2 Start

There will not be a more entry-level option than the current AirPods.
Why would they make a cheaper version of an item that is selling like hotcakes?
Exactly. They won't.

i guess they have better experts than You. There’s a buyer for every price point. Lets just see what might be the idea behind such a move.

The word Pro has lost all meaning...

It hasn’t. The term ‘Pro’ executes Exactly how Apple intended it to be, which was marketing term for the consumer to see the more ‘premium/expensive’ model. It creates a Separation for consumers to differentiate which AirPod model has specific features over the other.

Prime example/Side note:

Just the other day, I was having a discussion with someone about wanting to upgrade from their iPhone 7 to one of the latest iPhones [11/Pro], and she said I want the ‘Pro‘, and I asked ‘why’, and she said she wanted the The iPhone with the best camera. So right there the term ‘Pro’ Automatically had her insinuate what the top iPhone was with the best camera.

I doubt it, there's still people that prefer the classic Airpod design over in-ear airpods. I think this home rumor is just referring to 3rd gen airpods, no airpods pro lite or whatsoever. It doesn't make sense.

You may be right about it being 3rd-gen AirPods, or may not be. But having a cheaper AirPods Pro design makes plenty of sense, because there are surely a subset of people that prefer the sealed in-ear design but that don’t need $250 earbuds...

Not sure where you got that; the rumor is mainly about the AirPod Pros and a possible offshoot - I read the article as “entry level to the Pro line...” IMHO between $160 and $250 there is still space for another product. Never mind the fact that they could theoretically release new 3rd-gen AirPods and sell the current version for $99-$120 a la iPhone 8...

I have both kinds of AirPods and love them both.

I’d like the original form factor, but with added noise cancelling, even if the noise cancelling isn’t as good as the pro.

The term Pro is overused and often irrelevant for these products. Really wish Apple marketing could come up with another creative way to differentiate their product lines.

Air Pods Pro without noise canceling and a bunch of colors?
You must be right. Most people seem to find the pros a better fit than the regular AirPods.

I wonder if Apple are going show ‘courage’ and not supply any headphones in the box (it’s bad for the environment- and the iPhone’s profit margins) but instead provide a voucher towards a (very cheap) pair of AirPods, or a bit more expensive ‘AirPods pro lite’.

I wonder also if this will mean that the AirPods pro will be relaunched in a different colour, as ‘white’ in Apple speak tends to mean ‘for everyone’.

My guess is that they will become the new regular AirPods with the AirPods Pro design but with less features. The AirPods pro name is extremely stupid

most likely but using “Pro” and then ‘lite’ in its name kinda reduces the net perceived value of the product.

this will not be a smart move and I find it odd to be a rumour at all.

You guys DO NOT GET IT!
These are not AirPod Pro Lite, they are Airpod Pro LIGHTS!

They have LEDs embedded all over them that pulse and dance according to the music!!! Because let's face it, bling is what has been missing from the AirPods experience.

Apple must have an otaku working in the marketing dept. Only an anime nut could come up with such a ridiculous name. We hear/read stuff like Satan Miracle Ultra Super Megaton Punch (Dragonball Z) and Spiraling Flash Super Round Dance Howl Style Three (Naruto) in anime/manga all the time.:p

They could have gotten help from the Xbox marketing team as well.. The Apple Pro X Series Box Airpod One X Max..

It's the regular AirPod Pro but with a subscription service. If you don't need ANC you can use them as they are. However if you need to take a trip on an airplane or going into some other environment you can subscribe. $3.95 a month to enable ANC and microphone features.

Ha! I'd hardly place myself in the category of 'expert." Or, let's hope they have better experts than some random poster in a niche forum thread. 🤪

Oh HA! Good catch SuperCachetes. I totally missed that little word there, 'pro.' Thought this was about an entry-level option for the regular AirPods line. Changes things a bit... Tho I am still curious to see if there is room from both a feature and price perspective to warrant something between the $160 & $250. Time will tell.

I sold my Airpods 2 when I got the Pros and I regret it. Sure, overall the Airpods Pro is a stronger product. But sometimes I wish I still had the simplicity of the Airpods 2 around. Sometime I'm not in the mood of in-ear earphones and just wish I had my Airpods 2 around. Might get a pair once the 3rd is announced to complement my Pros

How about they figure out how to make the Air Pods Pro work with phone calls first...
They work perfectly well in my case, just as good as the Airpods 2, both for Regular Phone calls and for Skype for Business calls. Heck, even while exercising outdoors and connected to my Apple Watch with Cellular I haven't received any complaints about me don't coming clearly.

All I want i for apple to do is make it so my current Pros can connect to two different sources and know which one to give focus to with out me having to manually connect it each time I want to switch from my Apple TV4K to my iPhone...
My guess is they'll give that feature to a newer model but won't make it work on earlier models

Maybe AirPods+ (plus) Or Max would make more sense?

AirPods $150
AirPods+ (AirPods Pro without ANC) $200
AirPods Pro $250

Or maybe $180, $220, $250 Or something like that.

I’m one of them. The pro keeps falling out, regardless of what size tip I put on. I’ve ordered some foam replacement tips and really hope they fix the problem, but I don’t think they will. So an updated AirPod would be great.

If true, that's some bullsh*t. Apple knows that pulling this crap will piss alot of loyalists off who sprung early for the $250 unit.
