What do you mean?! An Ethernet port is clearly one of the top requirements for a PRO wireless headphone.

Don’t be such an apologist Carl. You’re happy with your wireless headphones doing things like “playing sound”. But real PROS need a full blown 8-port USB hub built in to them.
An 8-port USB hub would be awesome, pretty sure I could MacGyver eight 8-track players into that and get 64 tracks of awesome, pro sound. Or 16 quadraphonic tracks (with the proper splitter) :p

Splitter?!!! Pros don’t use dongles. The dual output would be built into the headphones.

Do you fix household appliances like toasters, blenders, microwave ovens and the like when they stop? Nobody does, because it’s cheaper to simply buy a new one when they quit.
Speaking of microwave ovens ... I have one from the 1970s that still works! It's so old, it doesn't even have a built-in timer, let alone a digital display. You just push a button to start it, and then push that button again to stop it.

But to keep this post from getting off-topic, I will note that I still haven't figured out a way to pair my first-gen AirPods (whose batteries are still holding up rather nicely) to that microwave oven. ;)

Apples pushes the technology. For example bye-bye Touch ID and hello Face ID.
They're hard to compare cause there was no phone that had both. Everyone had the option between wireless and wired headphones from the original iPhone until the 7 and mostly picked wired, which is as clear cut as it gets. And this isn't a standards thing either like the DVD reader; that was dictated more by those making the discs.

My point made somewhere was that I am still using my wired EarPods without the headphone jack. And while some may find this arrangement less than ideal, it works for me.

Baymowe, check your sarcasm detector, I think it may be malfunctioning. Keysofanxiety is quite clueful, yet is asking for earphones with an ethernet port. He's mocking the same group that you (and I) find vexing.
People have been so seriously with their ridiculousness that I probably overlooked it could be sarcastic. So many times I think it’s sarcasm and people are totally serious. It’s baffling.

There were literally no good wireless earbuds Until the AirPods. Now, everyone would rather have those.

This are "single use" items. Frankly speaking I think it should be banned. There was nothing wrong with wired headphones that did not need battery etc and were lasting many years. Now you pay 250USD and have basically couple years of use until battery gives up. I will not support that practice neither from Apple nor any other company
I hate the Apple strategy to solder and glue everything to make sure you can't replace it! I am with you on this one.
I have to disagree on how great the wired headphones are. Mine always died with intermittent cable problems way earlier than my AirPods.
