Which one is the best for calls and just general listening of music, videos etc? I have an Apple store gift card to burn and am in need of a new pair as my 1st gen is on its last leg. I like the new features of the pros (ANC, transparency mode) but love the ease of use of the traditional style AirPods.

I had the first gen and now have the pros. The sound quality on the pros is way better, and if you're going to use them in any noisy environment, there's no comparison.

What do you mean by "ease of use" of the regular AirPods? I don't find one model any easier to use than the other, although there are some differences (such as tapping the AirPods vs squeezing the stem).

I tried the APP and went back to gen 2 AirPods. Ultimately it came down to APP not being any better for exercise and I prefer the double tap functionality to squeezing the stem. The APP have a lot going for them, but for just around the house usage, which is the vast majority of how mine are used, the gen 2’s are perfect. They let in enough noise that I can hear when my wife is talking to me, whereas in ear earbuds create a significant enough of a seal to block out normal conversation level talking, even without ANC.

Just by the fact that you mentioned by tapping instead of squeezing, and have also read that some people have to adjust their APP when they put them in to make sure they get a tight fit.

Hmm, thanks for this. Are there any major differences between the 1 and 2’s, aside from wireless charging?
