AirPods stopped connecting to my Mac

I brought myself some AirPods. My iPhone, iPad and Mac connected to them straight away. All of a sudden my Mac has stopped contacting to them with is doubly frustrating because I brought them mainly to use on the Mac. Any ideas?

Is your macOS version up-to-date? There was an issue with an early version of macOS 11 that was making it difficult to connect AirPods.
