Disgusting (and all style, for that matter) is in the eye of the beholder. Many people find the rubber earpiece more comfortable and find that it seals out outside sound better. In a similar vein, many find the hard plastic of the Air Pods to be uncomfortable and/or fall out easily. Either way, it's strictly personal preference. I haven't done an exhaustive search to find all styles available.

Apple can always price everything at their will; my point is that the basic technology (completely wireless bluetooth earbuds) is already available and competitors are pricing it over $100 less than Apple. Apple does have some additional features like the infrared sensor and the accelerometer for tap-to-control, so it's not a straight comparison, but $100/3x the price seems to be a pretty steep premium.

I know, which is why the majority of the bluetooth (if not all expect for Apple's) features that style, I know quite a few people who do prefer that style, but like I said they fall out and just do not work for me, so I'm pretty much stuck in Apple's overpriced boat. But that is why I'm willing to pay so much more over competitors, Apple's version really is better in my opinion. I've literally wanted bluetooth earphones with the design of AirPods for -years-.

My experience has been this:

1. AirPods in Case... and Connected to my phone... Case drains about 1% an hour or so.
2. AirPods OUT of Case... and Connected to my phone. Case does NOT drain at all.
3. AirPods in Case and reset to be NOT connected to my phone. Both Case and AirPods stay at ~100% all day.

It seems to me that the issue is the AirPods are using battery life by some type of connection being maintained (heartbeat??) while idle in the case and thus are using power and draining the case.

I guess that could be solved with an update. I will see how it plays out and not trade in for a new pair for a while.

You realize that in 6 months this won't matter, right?
Yes, the future is always just 6 months away. Tell that to my 16 year old truck. I've been playing music and making phone calls off my iPhones for years via a cassette adaptor. Never a complaint regarding sound quality. Apple removed the headphone jack making upgrading my luxury item a thing of the past. Are there other work-arounds? Sure, like using the dongle Apple provides. Sure hope I don't have to charge my phone while listening to music, making phone calls, or which I do frequently listening to music while using maps navigation. No, Apple has essentially cut me out. That's okay, what's one more loyal Apple user discarded on the ash heap of "progress."

To anyone even contemplating getting these...

1) You cannot change Volume on Air Pods - you have to double-tap to get SIRI and ask SIRI to make louder.
2) You cannot skip to next or previous song - nor can you hit play or stop. You again have to ask SIRI to do that. You CAN set a preference to enable double tap to start/play but THEN you loose SIRI on double tab.

The phones sound like their cabled baby brothers. No better no Worse. They connect easily to bluetooth

They are completely useless with an iPhone unless you wanna pull the iPhone out the pocket every time you want to lower volume or basically control audio. A joke. No a total Joke.

I paid 179 EURO in the Store for them. I could not test them due to them being a hygiene article. Luckily I asked the employee if before buying if I would have the same functionality as with the cabled ones. He said, of course.

I opened the Package right then and there and they connected immediately. Great. 2 Minutes later after failing to understand how to make the pods louder - I was disillusioned. Went to the agent who checked the web and to his own bewilderedness he had to confirm that the pods are useless.

So I got my money back...

First the 2016 MBP and now this...

Steve Jobs would have NEVER signed off on releasing headphones as bad as this.
He must be turning in his grave seeing how bad Apple Brass is doing !

Bro, relax. If you don't like them fine, but they are not useless. I usually set one volume on any of my headphones and then just listen... So, if you have to change your volume that frequently, what are you doing?

Its all about use case and for your use case they didnt work. Just move on and buy something else.
