I have just updated to Watch 4.1 and think something has changed in terms of the level of volume via my AirPods. They seem to go so much louder now.

Anybody else getting this or is it just me?

I've noticed from the beginning that the AirPods are considerably louder when used with the Series 3 than with any other device. I usually use them at one or two notches from full volume, but on the Series 3 it's closer to 75%. I'm wondering whether this is regulatory? Perhaps Apple Watches don't come under the same rules as phones.

I felt the pods sounded better with the 3 than the 2 but I thought it might be placebo effect, maybe it is louder. Sounded better tho. I also wear the pods upside down, bass is better for me.

Do the pods still feel safe in the ears upside down?

I’m going to give this a try today.

Seems the same for me (AW3 LTE, 4.1)
(Maybe a tiny bit louder)

I have not used them much connected to the watch so may have only just noticed this when testing the Apple radio application. I will see if there is a difference when just connected to my phone today.

Yes, That’s also why I wear them that way, they are more snug and don’t look like drinking straws hanging from my ears.

OP ... check on your phone to be sure none of the settings for the Music app for playback were somehow altered. If you Volume Limit is on and set too low the AirPods can be affected too. Mess around with Sound Check too.

gigaguy, I thought you were joking but I just reversed and put the AirPods in upside down...the sound does change. I'm guessing the opening is angling more directly down your ear canal when placed this way.

Not sure I agree they look better this way...buy hey, they are not winning any style competitions anyway. ;)
