Anyone else notice since the launch of the iPhone X - using AirPods has been a PITA? It doesn't just work when you open the lid like it did previously. I have to open the lid a couple of times for it to work. Sometimes it doesn't hand off either. I've noticed I am also not alone with this. Used to work flawless.

Also noticed one of my AirPods is 10% lower in battery life than the other. Always. Does that mean they are defective? My right on is always dying sooner and it's the one that always shows 10% less.

Since going from a 6S to the X, I think Airpods pairing has improved if anything.

The 10% difference in battery may be that the microphone in the Right Bud may be triggering (it detects your voice & switches on momentarily, waiting for commands) or in use during calls/Siri etc.

I put the pods in my ears and they pair up right away. Never bother to check when I open the lid; too much hassle and it doesn’t matter until they’re in my ears anyway.

That’s what I find in most cases as well. Usually most cases, just “Forget” this device and repairing the AirPod with the iPhone can resolve it.

I did that after posting this and reading a few things on the webs. Seems to be ok now. Can't replace them as they went out of warranty in March.

Thanks all for the info! 😀
