Today Apple released an update:

The AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001 includes general fixes and compatibility updates for the following applications:

- AirPort Utility
- AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow Base Stations
- AirPort Disk Utility
- AirPort Disk Agent

Note: Only previously installed software from the list above will be updated. AirPort Utility v5.1 for Mac OS X 10.4.x or later software supports the AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n, AirPort Extreme Base Station and AirPort Express Base Station.

I am updating right now...

AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001

Apple has released a maintenance update to its AirPort Base Station software for Mac and PC.

The Mac update provides general fixes and compatibility updates for AirPort Utility, AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow Base Stations, AirPort Disk Utility, and AirPort Disk Agent. The Windows update provides similar updates to AirPort Utility, AirPort Disk Agent, and AirPort Disks Control Panel for Windows machines.

I hope this fixes all of the bugs in the software.

I installed it yesterday and couldn't believe the bugs in the software. It's getting pretty typical for Apple nowadays and their sliding quality.

Fingers crossed this fixes the issues...

Airport Extreme

Is this update only for the new Airport Extremes? I have the old (non "n") Airport Base Station.

I have the old Airport Base Station as well. I just downloaded it and when I try to install it I get an error saying I need Airport Admin 5. I only have 4.2.3 and cannot find 5 on Apple's download site. Not sure how else to get it.

Its a good update, prior to this, my connection fluctuated. It never disconnected but it went from 1 to 4 bars randomly and frequently. After the update its now solid at full bars.

They also added the ability to automatically check for updates.

I'm in the same boat.
All I've been able to find about Airport Utility 5 is that it is part of Leopard.

It didn't update the firmware on either my Extreme or Express, so I guess the Extreme still won't spin down my connected disks...

I've already killed one disk from overheating, and at the moment I only dare have my 500 GB LaCie Porche - with fans - connected... :(

I wasn't able to install the update either. I wish I could because the AirPort software really needs some fixes. I can't connect to a DLINK wireless router with WEP enabled. It always says error while connecting even though I have put in the correct WEP key.

Also the signal on my MBP really fluctuates a lot and none of my other Macs do this. It never loses the signal but it does go up and down a lot.

I experience this when I don't have "Use Interference Robustness" checked in the airport menu. Do you have that checked?

Has anybody who was having speed problems with AirDisk noticed any improvement since the update?

It's possible to connect a disk to an airport express? Or did you mean your extreme?

Yes, I have it select on both the airport base station and the airport software on the MBP.

If this update is only updating the apps used to manage the AirPorts (+ the AirPort Disk Agent), I'm surprised anyone's noticed any change in the actual performance of their wireless network.

It's not like the actual AirPorts are being updated, correct?

anyone know if this update solves the infamous VPN issue?

I can't get the new AEBS until the VPN problem is fixed... tnx.
