The original airport card can recieve signals from a base other than Airport right? Like Netgear, Dlink, Linsys..those work with it right?

yes, they all use the same standard. The only issue might be that some brands might not be easy to or able to be set up from a mac.

Cause i dont want to buy that dr. bott antenna thingy for the APX base, and I dont want to spend so much on another Base..cause the netgear one is only 69 bucks
