Okay, I'm not really sure how to explain this. So I'll give it my best shot.
I'm on an older (almost 3 years old) MacBook running OS X 10.4.11
I'm currently on spring break from college, but before I came home for the week I was trying to do some port-forwarding stuff at my apartment, couldn't get it to work (most likely because my ISP probably blocks the ports I was trying to forward). I had an issue where I couldn't connect to my wireless router anymore after I tried the port-forwarding, but I resolved it by (at least I think) restoring my settings to what they were originally. After I did that, I connected no problem and everything ran smoothly.
Now I'm home for my break, and my connectivity to my router here is absolutely terrible. Even when it says that it's connected, most of the time nothing will load, and the rest of the time it's dropping it's connection completely. I've never had this problem at home before, in fact I was looking forward to coming home because the internet is so much better here than at my apartment near campus.
I'm connected to the wireless network with my iPhone as well, and that works completely fine, so I know it isn't the router or ISP being down or something. I've tried resetting the router, resetting the modem, restarting my computer, resetting my Network settings, etc.
Currently my network settings are set to:
Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.1.1
What am I doing wrong, or what can I do to resolve this issue?
EDIT: I ran speedtest.net on both my computer and on my iphone... on my computer I'm getting a ping of 241, 1.78 download and 2.13 upload. On my phone, I'm getting a ping of 97, 7.56 download and 3.45 upload.
Obviously something is restricting my laptop's connection, but I have no idea what it could be. Any possible help?
