Airport drops connection!

I just setup my new WEP 40-128 bit hex, ever since doing this, my macbook pro drops the network connection to my liksys router every 10 minutes, and I have to manually connect again. What am I doing wrong? I do not need to enter my password more then once for it's saved to my keychain, I simply have to re-connect all the time because my laptop keeps dropping the connection!
 
eh i never had good connection with the airport extreme. it refuses to connect to other networks. if there are more than one person connected to it there will be no live connection. Also, it can't handle bandwidth too well ... for an example I have Vonage the sound quality has to be set to 30 kb or something. Where with my netgear one i can have it at 90 kb and have multiple people on.

As for your case ... I would say double check your connections or just toss it out :)

to my airport card yes, but my airport card came pre-installed and is not white... nor round

well you could have been more specific like Aiport Card or Airport Extreme. it could have been anything.

I had something similar with my pc setup, linksys wet54g & wcg200, the wet54g kept dropping the connection, only started after a issue with comcast cable (coincidence?), tried all sorts of fixes, reset hware to defaults, updated drivers, updated firmware, only thing that worked was setting the pc with a static ip address. My laptop that was wireless straight to the wcg200 never had an issue.

So try a static ip, otherwise do some google searches etc.
