Airport express error

I am trying to use a airport express for wireless printing. This works if the airport express is its own network but does not at all if I join it with the existing network. I cannot even edit it afterwards and have to press the reset button.

Is there anyway to get it to work within the existing network?

Set it to access point mode.

Also if your main router is an aebs, you must set the network as extendable.

What do you mean access point mode?

Its not the very latest version, and the network wireless is not the apple base station.

Are you connecting it to the main network with wired or wireless?

I give up, it seems to be very unreliable. Causes more problems then it solves
