HomePod Airport Express plays fine, but constant warnings from iTunes

I recently changed my WiFi router to bridge mode. That fixed a whole slew of airplay problems, but now I'm getting regular warnings in iTunes that it can't connect to my AirPort Express. But the AirPort actually plays fine and never disconnects or skips or anything - just these transient warnings from iTunes that I have to dismiss. Maybe one or two an hour - it's annoying. The Airport and Mac are connected via ethernet, and wifi on the airport is turned off. Anyone know how to fix this?
