I apologize up front for what is probably an incredibly naive question.

Is the AirPort Express basically a wireless router? Can I plug in my wired connection from my modem to the AirPort Express and then plug from AirPort Express into the back of my iMac for a wired connection on my iMac?

Of course then using AirPort Express for all wireless devices throughout the house.

Thank you

Yes. The AE is a router and a wireless bridge and a switch.

Yes as long as you get the new design since it has both Wan and LAN ethernet ports. The previous models only have one ethernet port.

Good to know. I'm typing this on my newly configured Motorola SURFboard 6141 and my AirPort Express.

Very happy!
