Scanner

Why would you need that function? You have to put the material in the scanner anyway, so you might as well be sitting next to it?

You still want it because otherwise you have to change USB ports all the time between Airport Express USB (being mobile) and computer USB (being able to use the scanner).

And unfortunately, you can't use the scanner with AE. (I have a AE and I use it with HP PSC 2110). Not yet at least. Sucks big time. Makes the printer function in AE useless for anyone who scans more than once a month in a combined printer/scanner.

In my head/heart...

Pros:
  • 802.11g
  • wireless printing
  • airTunes!!!
  • portabililty and multiple profiles
  • cheap for the range I get
  • simple
Cons:
  • only extends some networks (WDS)
  • WDS can be difficult
  • some print utilities don't work over network
  • some 2.4Ghz appliances cause interference
  • expensive for the range I get
  • irresistable!
I don't regret buying it. The Airport Express made me want an Airport Extreme base station. In that respect, it did it's job from a marketing standpoint. Apple made a lightly proprietary network appliance with plenty of uses. I've spent $129+ on dates that didn't perform to this level. Bad taste in metaphors is a gift. \\m// I give it an 8.6 out of 10. Woot!
