I've noticed if i leave the Airport Extreme on auto channel pick, it selects 100, as seen on my MBP as DFS 100 (5 Ghz, 80 MHz).
In the manual selection i cannot select above 48.
It is my understanding channels > 48 present possible compatibility problems.
I was wondering why it selects 100?
Also, i have noticed anything > 48 it takes a very long time for the SSID to show on any of my apple devices. Also my phone using call over WIFI has drop outs. Site survey shows noise on the higher channels too.
Any ideas why it takes so long to connect to higher channels? Its a shame i have to manually pick a channel as i prefer things running on auto.
